No More Heroes' Suda51 talks PlayStation 4, says he's "horny" for the possibilities
He's apparently REALLY excited about the PS4
Goichi Suda is really excited about the PlayStation 4. In his regular column in the latest issue of Japanese game magazine Famitsu, Suda -- better known to many as "Suda51" -- remarked on just how "horny" the new hardware made him. Yes, that'd be the exact word he used to describe his feelings and thoughts.
Writing "just a few hours after the reveal of PS4," Suda commented on his excitement for the console, while noting that the PlayStation 3 still doesn't feel old.
The first time he uses "horny" to describe his thoughts, Suda is talking about the possibilities created by cloud gaming. In this future that he envisions, players will be able to enjoy their games from practically anywhere thanks to cloud storage, which adds "new value."
“I think that in the future, cloud delivery will become totally commonplace. Social networking has certainly done that. To be able to play anywhere, on any device, with shared data – this will be an alluring new feature for games. You’ll have your own personal profile or ID that you can access from many different devices and enjoy your game from anywhere, in various different ways.
“That this play style will become a reality is futuristic enough. But in addition, cloud saving becoming standard practice is an evolution in itself. It will add new value and will surely result in new ways to play. Thinking about the future of this stuff and then constructing and outputting something appealing is our job as game designers, and from that challenge we can take new strength.
“And that makes me horny.”
That's not all Suda is excited for. "Another turn-on" for him is the mere fact that his studio, Grasshopper Manufacture, will be developing games for the PlayStation 4. Grasshopper's parent company GungHo Online Entertainment and sister company Acquire are doing the same.
On this matter, Suda can't actually comment much, which is entirely understandable. At any rate, he's enjoying the challenge.
“As has been announced, Grasshopper Manufacture will make games for PS4, as will (parent company) GungHo Online Entertainment and (sister company) Acquire. I can’t go into detail at this stage, but for sure the new challenge is exciting.
“During PlayStation Meeting 2013, Sony showed such a strong vision. Now we have to decide how to find our own victories within that and present games that express the Grasshopper world. And that makes me horny again.
“Whichever way you look at it, talk of new hardware means a new sense of excitement within the industry. The buzz will surely go unabated until the holidays. It’s going to be a precious year.”
As of now, Grasshopper is working on Killer is Dead, a sci-fi action hack 'n' slash slated for Xbox 360 and PS3. Given how the industry climate is right now, however, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the game was suddenly announced as a next-gen title too. Either way, we're looking forward to playing this one.
