If there's a great example of why Kickstarter is an amazing thing, it's Shadowrun Returns. The project wrapped up on Kickstarter about ten months ago with almost $2,000,000 in funding -- more than four times its original goal. Today, Harebrained Schemes released over twenty minutes of recorded gameplay footage along some concept art. As I implied earlier, it looks very solid.
Shadowrun Returns is a tactical RPG that takes place in a unique cyberpunk world. Throughout the video you'll see trolls, street samurai, drone mechanics and plenty of nerdy role-playing goodies. Of course, a majority of them have semi-automatic weapons or ancient powers too, just to complicate matters. Perhaps the best part of all is that all of the content in the video was made in an editor that will be released to the public. Hooray for modification!
Unfortunately, Shadowrun Returns recently received a short delay, being bumped from January to a "summer 2013" release window. As can be seen from the gameplay trailer, however, it looks like the game is coming along very nicely. Hopefully we'll hear more information soon, but until then enjoy the twenty minutes of action below.
