20 minutes of Shadowrun Returns' Alpha shows what 10 months of Kickstarter backing can accomplish
#1 reason why Kickstarter is AMAZING
If there's a great example of why Kickstarter is an amazing thing, it's Shadowrun Returns. The project wrapped up on Kickstarter about ten months ago with almost $2,000,000 in funding -- more than four times its original goal. Today, Harebrained Schemes released over twenty minutes of recorded gameplay footage along some concept art. As I implied earlier, it looks very solid.
Shadowrun Returns is a tactical RPG that takes place in a unique cyberpunk world. Throughout the video you'll see trolls, street samurai, drone mechanics and plenty of nerdy role-playing goodies. Of course, a majority of them have semi-automatic weapons or ancient powers too, just to complicate matters. Perhaps the best part of all is that all of the content in the video was made in an editor that will be released to the public. Hooray for modification!
Unfortunately, Shadowrun Returns recently received a short delay, being bumped from January to a "summer 2013" release window. As can be seen from the gameplay trailer, however, it looks like the game is coming along very nicely. Hopefully we'll hear more information soon, but until then enjoy the twenty minutes of action below.
"When in doubt always shoot, conserve ammo, and never cut a deal with a dragon."

Can't wait to see what Project Eternity looks like, what with the 4 million that game made.
I'm pretty sure Cyberpunk 2077 will be a good game, as the Witcher games are great. But I'm also pretty sure it will be very little like Shadowrun Returns. Shadowrun mixes cyberpunk with magic and urban fantasy. Shadowrun Returns will be a turn-based tactical RPG, while Cyberpunk 2077 will be a real-time action RPG. Yes, they will both be in a futuristic setting, but still based on completely different worlds, back stories, and rule sets. The differences in gameplay will be far greater than the difference in graphics.
