I switched from the busy North America Servers to Eastern Europe 1.

Then it won't let me 'create a city at this time'. Game instructed me to 'claim a new city' and then it doesnt like me 'create a city at this time'.

Come on, guys. Drones at EA didn't learn from D3?

Ok, when you enter a new server and you dont get a tutorial, shits not working.

Also if you enter the tutorial and it doesn't prompt you to do anything, shits not working.

I dunno why we keep expecting different from EA

Lol @ people complaining or expecting a game to run properly on release day. Have you not learned anything from the last couple years?

Yes, I can already see it: "Buy session pass and get preferred treatment in server queues!"

This way even not enough servers become a good thing from a business point of view and can make an additional profit added to the already reduced costs of keeping the servers running!

Games should work on the release day, at least to some extent, or people aren't doing their jobs right. Nowadays developers just go and think, "*bleep* this, make profit from the hype of our broken game and MAYBE fix it later." I know that its not that common for a broken to not get patched, but it does and will happen. Worst of all, the gaming community just submits and takes it up the arse. I feel like some of the people I know buy games based on hype and empty promises. People will buy a game and say, "Oh well, I'll just let the developers continue to cornhole the gaming community indefinitely. End of rant.

I should probably clarify -- the queues aren't as short as thirty minutes. That's the timer before the server will recheck your position in queue. In other words, the actual queue is likely hours long. I know at least a few people over Twitter who were unable to play at all yesterday despite logging on early in the morning.

TLDR: Queue for queue. 30 minutes just to recheck your position. Actual wait: HOURS.

I believe there were about 2 stress tests done before launch, which, is pretty much not going to give you a good sense of scale. I think when they limited it to "you can only play for an hour" it turned a lot of people off from even bothering.

ArenaNet did many beta's to guage server load, and they were able to handle launch fairly decently. There were still issues but they were taken care of, and no one was stuck in a server queue, or had any type of error 37's.

But in this case, with inadequate testing you get problems like what we're seeing now. It's a shame really, because this could have been prevented. Also, I'm sure they could have judged based on the sheer number of preorders.

Well, EA. How's that "Online Exclusivity" thing working out for you, HMMMMM?

But seriously. EA's up to something. They don't just "fix" problems, or rather, the remedy comes at a cost. It won't be "Hey, patch 1.02 released. It decreases queue time!" it'll be "Buy the City Solver pack for 15 smackers to remove the queue time!"

F*ckin' EA. Gettin' real tired of your shit.

Basically, I think it comes down to Electronics Arts having to make a judgement call. Do they go out of their way to spend tons of money on server hardware and support for launch, only for it to be wasted once peak launch usage goes down after the first week? Or do they only spend what's practical, have a tough launch week, and then be perfectly seated for the time thereafter?
