Rumors about poor Dead Space 3 sales and an unannounced Dead Space 4 being cancelled are "patently false," EA tells us. Spread the word!
Seems like the rumour is false.
Or EA public relations lied.

Making the Dead Space series more like Mass Effect, that was another rumor as to what EA told the employees, if so that's not a wise move on EA's part.
Dead Space is a survivor horror game not an action Rpg.

I loved all of the DS games. 3 was great fun for me, but mostly just the co-op and weapon crafting. The story was lame, and that terribly fun feeling of being alone wasn't there. Everyone is right, they can't milk the series to death. I think DS3 is the last of the series. The only way they could keep me interested is to revert back to Dead Space's roots. Hell, I could go for more DS2 DLC. I'd pay for it, because I know it wouldn't be outrageously different.

Quantity isn't always a good thing, so it will probably be for the best if DS3 were the last in the series.

I'm not hating on DS3. In fact, I think it's a okay game. Problem is: Its an action game in a series where action should have no role. Its supposed to be a horror game series and very little things in the game jump scared me or made me want to look away for a few seconds.
I never jumped or got scared playing Dead Space 1. It was a good horror game, but it was far from scary. The fact that you could new game+ took away from some of the survival horror elements, too.

I like Dead Space. DS3 was a Great game, Co-op did feel like it took some of its scare factor away but, I played it solo which was better. And If EA does cancel the DS series I will actually be pissed. I enjoy it so much I want it to continue. But if it gets to a point where it needs to be cancelled then so be it. But not now!

Talk negative about Dead Space 3 all you want, but when you stand back and look at all three games individually, they're all great in their own aspect. DS1 was more survival horror. DS3 was more action oriented. DS2 was a perfect combination of both of those.

And let me take back what I said for a second: I have no problems with the series going down the action route, but only to a certain extent. I agree that DS2 felt like the best of both worlds, but DS3 was leaning way more towards the action than actual horror and this in turn, alienates fans who fell in love with the series in the first place. The series was made to scare people, and that's how I think it should stay.

Godammit. I loved Dead Space 3, but it felt like RE6. It did make me jump a few times, but it felt like an action movie with aliens. The horror genre is dying a slow death thanks to CoD. I hope Metro Last Night will keep the horror genre alive at least for a year or so.

Unfortunately, I don't think EA will take a hint and realize that it's their microtransactions that are killing a lot of these sales.
I went through the entire campaign about four times and not once did I buy any of that shit. Also, you find materials in game that allow you to purchase resource packs from the market place. They're there for convenience, which isn't a bad idea. If you don't want to grind or search/explore for items, you can just buy 'em. Personally that takes some of the fun out of the game for me, but to each their own.
Its not just that they're there that bothers people, its the very real possibility for such a practice to be abused. Like I said in another article just look at how much DLC is milked despite being created to "encourage people to keep their games longer".

It doesn't help that EA has such a terrible reputation for being greedy. Notice how they're the only company trying to put micro-transactions into full priced retail games in the first place. I don't think anyone sees EA doing micro-transactions the right way either.

Great news. Unfortunately, I don't think EA will take a hint and realize that it's their microtransactions that are killing a lot of these sales. Also, no PC optimization? Visceral lost an entire platform's audience with that statement. I personally would have bought Dead Space 3 if it hadn't been for either of these features, the action gameplay looks great, but I can't support such lazy, greedy development choices.

With that being said, I liked how Isaac didn't talk in DS1.. but obviously, when trying to build a character, you can't continue doing that.

First Resident Evil 6 and now Dead Space 3, when are companies going to learn that maybe people want to play an actual horror game and not another, barebones, in your face action game?
Exactly this.
When I see the spawn of hell staring me down, I want to shaking in fear, not just shoot them in the face and move on.
