Well then, Skyrim gamers, looks like March is going to be an interesting month for Elder Scrolls V. The 1.9 title update has hit beta on Steam today, and the big feature here is the introduction of Legendary difficulty, along with Legendary skills.
Legendary level difficulty hardly needs to be explained, but what's the deal with Legendary skills? No more level caps, basically. With this feature, players can reset their skills at 100 to make them Legendary, which drops the skill back to 15 and returns your Perk points (while likely retaining your old perks) so you can pick up new ones. As Bethesda puts it, "you'll essentially be able to level up infinitely."
- Legendary difficulty setting
- Legendary Skills – Skills of 100 can be made Legendary. This will reset the skill to 15, return its Perks and allow the skill to affect leveling again. This effectively removes the overall level cap.
The update also brings a ton of bug fixes, as usual, including some general stability and memory improvements. The list is pretty long, but there are plenty of quest fixes, and companions will finally properly equip higher quality gear if given them.
For those of us who own Skyrim on console, Bethesda is hoping to release 1.9 to Xbox 360 and PS3 later this month.
