Just as the original Devil Survivor was updated for 3DS in its Overclocked edition, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Break Code has just been announced. Planned for release in Japan this summer, the 3DS update of the tactical RPG will also feature additional story and character content. The announcement came as a surprise during a pre-screening of the Devil Survivor 2 anime's first episode.
It's likely that Break Code will be far and away better than Overclocked, however, as the port of the original title felt awkwardly rushed. Overclocked lacked 3D support beyond its introduction cut-scene and the Demon Fusions, a mistake that I doubt Break Code will revisit. Otherwise, Overclocked did a solid job of of expanding voice work, adding new demons and extending the story. Atlus wouldn't let fans down, right?
Expect more news on Devil Survivor 2 Break Code later this month when it debuts in the latest issue of Famitsu. While it's not Devil Survivor 3 or anything, this should be another great addition to the 3DS library, which is really coming of age in 2013. Hopefully North American release information will be announced in coming months.
