Capcom announced today that they have plans for adding cross-region (between North America and Europe) and off-TV play for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on the Wii U. The decision is based entirely on fan requests for the features. While there's no release date for the patch, Capcom has said that it will be "soon" after the game's March 19 release date (March 22 in Europe).
While I certainly can't begrudge Capcom for going out of their way to bring these fan-requested features to reality, I can't say I really heard much uproar about it. And we have a pretty vocal community for Monster Hunter over here. Again though, sounds like a good deal. We've got a multi-national community that will make the best out of these features.
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on the Wii U will be coming out on March 19 and the online play is entirely free. Keep in mind that these features are almost certainly not coming to the 3DS version of the game. Check out the demo if you haven't already.
