This microtransaction thing, everyone can avoid by not buying it with their money. i like to torture EA and use ration seals on DS3 for my resources and weapon parts and in game money on ME3 cuz they aint getting my dough.

Slash, Whats wrong with online passes? How about xbox users has to pay £40-£60 a year to go online and ps3 users get it for free like PC users. The fact EA comes in and says "Oh you're buying that game used? That'll be an extra £10 for the online feature." is whats wrong. You're already paying to play online (Xbox Live) or not (PS Network & Steam) but EA cant have that. No, You have to buy an online pass for THAT particular game. Thing is, you're likely to trade in that game at some point anyway which means that was a waste of £10 or however much that is in dollars even if you do play the online feature.

I'm utterly surprised nobody has even attempted to ask/bug/annoy EA why they incorporated this idea into their videogames anyway and why they wont stop. Why cant we destroy EA and set its subsidiaries free?

That being said, I do hate EA... which is why I don't buy their games any more.
I'd love to agree, but the cold truth is (for me personally) that they do make decent games.

I love BF3, I loved Mass Effect 2, and just yesterday i played Dead Space for the first time. I'd love to say i hated it but I actually went straight home and bought it from the X-Box market place! And its unfortunately totally brilliant. I thought horror games were dead... not yet they aint.

Why EA? Why make such good games then act like such utter twats?

However I will never buy into this microtransaction nonsence. Hell im gonna try to NEVER pay full price for any EA product if i can help it never mind giving them more money.

And another fanboy supporting multiplayer passes? Just F***ing shoot me now. Thats the kinda moron who was giving Coca Cola £2 for a bottle of tap water.

It's about as much as a horror game as RE4 tbh (and we all know how much you love that game )

Yeah but i'd still define Resident Evil 4 as horror game. Just a bad horror game. Its still Horror, well, supposed to be.

And yeah i had a look at Daylight. Looks pretty interesting. Apparently Jessica Chobot is a writer. I just hope she keeps this kinda thing out of it:

Awww, that literally hurts me every time. It doesnt get any easier to hear.

Doesnt that kinda support the position that Dead space is a Horror game?

And also, dead space meets quite a lot of the criteria of the first group there. Isolation, puzzle solving, under-armed at times, with some psychological horror aswell.

Admittedly Im not very far in but so far It kinda straddles both categories there.

Ehh, I don't consider action horror horror at all. Mostly just action gamer's excuse to play something some people consider scary. The videogame equivilant of a hollywood horror movie basically. I mean how much hype did Amnesia and Slender get when they were released? People went insane. Horror's so niche the best shit is usually buried, which is unfortunate.

I was never under armed in dead space though. The weapons are pretty overpowered, especially the plasma cutter lol, and there are a bunch of health. Not really too many mechanics other than "lights off, dead body on the ground/something flickers past vent and BOOM, hahaha, I scared you" kind of thing. Best horror games are the ones that make you unwilling to continue on. Never got that feeling with ds.

Mneh, yeah i suppose you could categorise them like that.

Using that criteria the last horror game was Silent Hill 1 for me. Thats the only game i have actually put down bcause i was too scared. But i think this comes with age for me.

I havnt been scared by a movie or game in years.

No it's not wrong.
The developers/publishers aren't getting the money when you buy it used. Just because you want to trade it in later on isn't their fault.

I'm not against the fact that they should get the money when we buy it used but i think there can be another way than stopping you from using the online services or any part of the game for that matter to get some of that money. That idea as well as Always-DRM is just encouraging piracy.
