Square Enix trademarks Deus Ex: Human Defiance, could be the title of the in-development movie
Update Follow-up domain registration implies Human Defiance is a movie
A followup domain registration has shed additional light on what Deus Ex: Human Defiance may in fact be. Rather than a game, Human Defiance may instead be the rumored Deus Ex movie currently in the works. Does that discount a game of the same name? Perhaps, or perhaps we're only breaking the ice on the direction that Deus Ex will be going next-gen.
The newly registered domain in question is DeusExHumanDefianceFilm, registered by CBS Films Inc.
Coming off of Eidos Montreal finishing their work on Tomb Raider's multiplayer, Square Enix has registered a trademark for Deus Ex: Human Defiance. The connection being, of course, that Eidos Montreal was the developer of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, which is a property owned and published by Square Enix. In other words, it looks like Eidos Montreal has a new project to work on. Err, well, in addition to Thief 4?
Never mind the confusion that might result with the release of upcoming action MMO Defiance from Trion Worlds, it's likely Deus Ex: Human Defiance would be a direct sequel to the events of Human Revolution. After the big teasers in the post-game credits of Human Revolution, I'd say it's about time, too! Would love to see a sequel that evolves the gameplay of Revolution, while responding to the criticisms that fans have.
While this is nothing more than a trademark application for Deus Ex: Human Defiance, a bit of speculation is still in the cards. We've entered the "gray area" where it's difficult to discern whether newly revealed games are likely to be current gen, next gen, or cross gen. That said, Square Enix has yet to make a next-gen announcement yet. Are they even dedicated to the new consoles? The PlayStation 4 event certainly bolster my confidence there. Damn, I was hoping to have some more substantial speculation, but it doesn't work all the time.
Where's Thief 4?

But man do I want it!
Uh what? Might want look through again.
I still haven't finished Human Revolution need to get started on it soon.
First, the typo: "It's likely Deus Ex: Human Revolution would be a direct sequel to the events of Human Revolution."
As for the explanation... DX:HR is a prequel to the original Deus Ex game and the post-credit tease is actually a reference to that game.
It's also been confirmed that a movie based off of this game is in the works, so Human Defiance might be a fitting title.
Nothing is confirmed and your speculation technically might be true, but this being the movie title makes MUCH more sense in the context of the franchise as a whole.
Either way, I like the HR game, and look forward to the movie and more games.
As far as I know, Deus Ex: Human Revolution is only let down by its outdated facial expressions....& Of course, outdated 'boss fights'.
