Gearbox has already made official comments stating the level cap increase will be free. It will be added as a separate free dlc, that will add a 3rd playthrough option that allows for deeper character customization. The 6th character will likely be $10, but who cares? I have no interest in another character. Just b/c you bought the season pass doesn't mean you're entitled to everything. You should have read the description, it never said anything about all content, just 4 campaign "story" dlc's. Nothing more, you even got it for a $10 discount over buying them separately.
You're new, but you're absolutely right.

There had to be a downside to buying the Pass. Don't twist, you're still saving money buy buying the Season Pass.

They did mention working on other character DLCs, since Gaige was so popular and all.

They also hinted at a possible second season of DLC. While the DLC was sub-par a bit, it's still only $30, so 4 $10 DLC is all you can really expect from it. $10/25% off separate full price purchases of the DLC.

Definitely would have preferred to have Gearbox make the DLC themselves, rather than just write it. Gearbox has been dropping the ball as of late. Duke Nukem (not entirely their fault), BL2 DLC (mostly their fault), and Aliens: Colonial Marines (in a large part, their fault. Terrible management).

Wasn't the level increase a free update on Borderlands 1? I thought it was as I didn't buy any DLC for that game and my level still got higher than the original cap.
One of the level caps were. The first level cap increase came with the Knoxx DLC, and added 11 levels to the game (50 > 61). Then later on, there was a free update that added another 8 levels (69 harhar). So depending on whether you got the DLC or not, and assuming you update, your level cap could range between 58 and 69.

I'm going to agree with Blackscythe and Ded Valve on this one. I went out and bought the Season Pass, thinking back on some of BL1's great DLCs (General Knoxx, Zombie Island) and was considerately disappointed with all three DLCs thus far. I never would have invested any money in them if I had known what was coming. I actually have to thank Borderlands 2 in a way, I guess, as they have caused me to stay as far away from any other Season Passes as I possibly could. What's going on, Gearbox? I never thought I would see them so ready to get money. Are they seriously putting the level cap in payed DLC?
I bet there will be 1-2 new raid bosses in the new DLC, also. They seem to think adding them solves everything when it comes to DLC. I remember that first moment of pure excitement when I first encountered Crawmerax in BL1. The excitement for raid bosses is beginning to wear thin in this installment.

BlackScythe Not to be "that guy" but how are season passes not a good thing? A discounted price on new content for a game I like? Sign me up. I honestly see the level cap coming as a free update/add on, while the new class will cost 10 to 15 bucks. Back to season pass talk though. Just like any purchase, just because some people blindly throw money at something they are unsure if they will like or not doesn't make them a bad thing. Season passes are one of the only current gen inventions I agree with. DLC isn't cheap and anything I can do to save cash on a game I like I will take.
If anything Borderlands proves why Season Passes are terrible idea. They hope to catch suckers in only to release subpar DLCs (which Gearbox didn't even develop) that doesn't really improve or add much of anything but bloats everything then releases even more dlc NOT included in the pass, dlc that in the previous game was free (the second level cap increase was free in bl1, the first cap increase came with the best DLC yet).

Overall I'm extremely disappointed with how Gearbox handled Borderlands 2 post release since it was such a great game. I'd never thought I'd see Gearbox being the excessively greedy ones.

lol, all I can do is remember all the people I ran into on various forums saying "season passes" were good.

Lets remember everyone, never pay for anything before you know what you're getting.
