While we may not have gotten a good look at the PlayStation 4 console, Sony has provided a dozen photos showcasing the look of the DualShock 4 and its PlayStation 4 Eye companion peripheral. Both controller and camera will be included in the box, allowing for Move-esque functionality. Oh, also, the DualShock 4 glows different colors. That's worth a grand at least!
We had heard rumors that the PlayStation 4 would be bundled with a PlayStation Eye peripheral, but it was worded in a way to make it sound like Sony wanted to compete with the Kinect. This, however, makes it seem like the PlayStation 4 Eye is more akin to the Wii U's sensor bar than a fantastical feature with astounding gameplay potential. Good on Sony for barely bringing motion control into their conference at all.
The DualShock 4, I think, while not a huge evolution of the concept images we've seen so far, it skinny enough and seemingly well made. There's bound to be classic DualShock faithful who will be frustrated that the shape is definitely not the same, especially with the grip rubber where you place your hands, but overall Sony's done well. It's similar and shows promise, which is all you need.
Also, thank goodness for a simple, standard headphone jack, right?
