They don't really have a choice, if they release a console over $300 with the current economic environment no one will go for it. I'm pretty sure that if nothing else they learned their lession with the PS3.

And so another company shows its ability to rip people off in the UK. £300 = $465. I doubt honestly that they will price it at $465 in the US. They'll price it lower.

$300 is certainly feasible.

Just make sure to exclude the proprietary $100 hdd's required to install games and presto!

Nothing. Xbox 360 Premium launched in the UK at £279,99 and that was just fine for 4-5 years of its life ignoring the hardware issues which weren't related to the price. The reason PS3 was so expensive was due to Blu-Ray. In the UK at time of launch Blu-Ray drives were £1000 and PS3 was £425. These days Blu-Ray drives are £60 so while everything in PS4 will be better, nothing will cost an absurd premium this time.

Knowing Sony this is still £800 - £1000 worth of tech that will be sold for £300 just like PS3 was £1000+ worth of tech sold for £425, the difference is this time the costs will be on the important things like the GDDR5 RAM and the GPU, not some premium priced optical drive that wasn't all that great outside of movies.

That's one of the things they surprisingly got right with the PS3, unlike every other system they put out.

300 bucks would certainly be very nice for everyone. If Sony takes this consideration to action, then they've already sold a PS4.

300 bucks or pound its like nothing for a new-gen console, i would be even able to buy two

I expect PS4 in Australia around $600-700 with one game or something!!! Sony is still a ballsy/arrogant company despite the GFC and slow PS3 sales/profit, Sony doesn't care high price; yet SCEI CEOs still have more and more millions of dollars each year despite the reported losses....

$300 sounds pretty good, It'll be really interesting to see what happens if all three consoles sell within the same price range.
