Dragon Quest X's HD Wii U update releases March 30 in Japan, still not announced for North America
Eighteen screenshots accompany announcement
The previously Wii exclusive MMO Dragon Quest X will officially be coming to the Wii U on March 30, according to Square Enix's latest announcement. Updated in glorious HD, the subscription-based online title may be just what the Wii U needs to pick up a little steam in Japan. Of course, the title has yet to even be announced for North America on either the Wii or Wii U, but perhaps soon.
To accompany the game's release, as is Japan's way, a special edition Wii U bundle will be made available. Said bundle includes the console, the game, a pro controller, 1000 yen that can be used in-game, and several Super Energy orbs that boost experience and gold gains. That should be plenty to get any gamer thoroughly addicted to an MMO in the first month, before subscriptions kick in.
In addition to the March 30 release date for Dragon Quest X, the game's beta will begin March 7, and a slew of new HD images were also released for the game. While it's still rather limited graphically, due to its initial design on the Wii, it visually captures the Dragon Quest style gamers have come to adore. The Wii U version is certain to be the preferred version, in my mind, which makes me doubt anywhere beyond Japan will even see a Wii localization.
