The lack of new games breaking into the top 10 is worrying these days. I'm not saying sequels themselves are inherently bad, but the ones that are churned out every year (a la COD), I would argue, are actually hurting any progress new FPS might make. As why bother make an FPS when COD has almost complete domination of the market (with BF)?

The Wii-U for me has launched at a bad time in my opinion. Everyone doesn't have as much money as they did when the previous consoles were released, as well as the fact most gamers know the PS4/Nextbox is coming.so are quite content to save any money they do have to wait for them. Along with this, I think Nintendo's biggest mistake was their target of the casual market with the Wii; the very nature of this meant these people wouldn't be fussed about getting the next console as much as the average gamer who has the PS3 or 360.

IIRC, Nintendo hasn't been selling the 3DS at a loss since July 2012
After a bit of research it appears you recalled correctly. I missed that news.

That said I still don't believe Nintendo are in the kind of position to cut the price of the Wii U. I think when it launched Nintendo said they needed to sell a console and one game to make that sale profitable, which through simple deduction puts them at making a $60 loss as it is. Can Nintendo afford to drop the price and take perhaps a $100+ loss? I'm not sure.

Hmm,if it keeps going at this rate, they'll have to lower the Basic Wii U to $190-$200 dollars and the Prenium Wii U to $220-250.
Nintendo can't afford it. After lowering the price of the 3DS which now sells at a loss they can't afford another big loss. Nintendo are not Sony they can't lose $2 billion a year and care little about it like Sony do, that kind of money loss would if anything force Nintendo out of the hardware business just like Sega. Unfortunately Nintendo played their price cut hand on 3DS making sure that did well, I don't see a price cut for Wii U coming anytime soon.

PS. Anyone that cares about sales should check out this article by Gamasutra. They break down the sale's figures in a way that show just how badly the Wii U is doing, though not only that they explain just why that may or may not be important in the long run. It's a very interesting read.

No, just some bozo who actually looked at the Wii U's sales record.
I was referring to the "not worried" part. As if the WiiU's sales affected you emotionally.

Anyway, the Wii U has still sold over 3 million units so I'm not worried.

This is expected after Christmas. I have to wonder whether the Wii's sales in it's first January were better only because the console's shortages spread it's initial sales out over a longer period.

Anyway, the Wii U has still sold over 3 million units so I'm not worried.

People need to stop comparing the two games. Battlefield is a simulator. Cod is a competitive fps. They're worlds different. Oh and until you've played competitve cod, dont say it has next to no team play. And since mw3, you get rewarded for things besides killing.
ok, Battlefield has MORE team play. and i like that better. lone wolfing is just no fun in a MP game, might as well play a single player campaign.

57K? Well damn, that's pretty harsh for a Ninty console.
It's worse when you factor in that America is typically good to Nintendo. Almost every Nintendo console in history has sold more units in America than anywhere else. Now I know that Wii U lacks games currently but if the system fails to gain traction in America it could be a pretty grim sales generation for Nintendo.

If it wasn't for Far Cry 3, I'd be certain that there was an inverse correlation between '# of Sales' and 'Quality of storyline'. Poor Far Cry 3, having to be between CoD:BO2 and Just Dance 4. Sometimes, this world just don't make none sense.
