To say Aliens: Colonial Marines has fared poorly upon release would be an extreme understatement. Yet despite being brutalized by critics and consumers alike, SEGA isn't ready to drop the Wii U version just yet.
Rumors that the publisher had outright canceled Aliens: Colonial Marines Wii U started up when the folks at NeoGAF realized the Amazon.com listing had been removed. On top of all that, Kotaku writer Jason Schreir wrote a snarky little quip about the Wii U version being "postponed indefinitely."
In response to all this, SEGA UK has come out to say that the rumors simply aren't true. A representative remarked, "It's just not true. We haven't announced the release date for it yet but that's it."
Colonial Marines Wii U was originally scheduled to arrive after the other three versions but within March. SEGA noted that this hasn't changed. Still, their response doesn't inspire a whole lot of confidence, since it's more of a denial than any confirmation to the contrary. And given how poorly the game was received on 360, PS3, and PC, we wouldn't be all that surprised if nothing ever came of the Wii U edition.
The game has only drawn more ire following a video showing the stark visual contrast between Colonial Marines demo and the final release.
