Who cut the budget? You would have to pay me to play this I swear this brown and bloom is the death of me.
BlackLabel posted a LINK which has a person supposedly involved in the production explaining exactly why it went to shit.

Boils down to: Poor management, other priorities, and last minute rush to put together something playable (no more extensions on the product's development because there had been too many already).

Honestly - I'm disappointed by this game. I finished 3 missions and for now - I stopped playing it. I'm wondering if it's worth to buy DLC when it'll be released.

I never considered getting this game, I saw the ads on TV, and it almost got my hopes up of it being a decent game. Another letdown.

Isn't this...the second time Gearbox has rushed out a product that was just...not even ready? Duke Nukem Forever was...well, DNF. This just seems like an even worse case of those same problems.

WHY THE FACE!?! shouldn't this be a crime ? XD ... I mean the changes between the two versions were so ridiculously big that I don't know what to say.

Even the final version protagonist in game wishes he was the demo protagonist, this just kind of leaves a bad feeling all around :/

The graphics of Aliens: Colonial Marines on PS3, in my opinion, is below PS2 level...

Something needs to be done to prevent the game like that to release again in the future!!! Completely misleading demo and the actual product, Why????....They just ruined the 'Aliens' franchise and above all the trust of the millions of 'Aliens' fans (both movie and game).

Sorry Gearbox!!! You lost the trust of gamers!!!!! Also, greedy Sega...

I'm glad that I bought a physical copy which can be sold for MGS ...Poor digital buyers on launch day.

P.S. Yes, I agreed with the Neo review, the game makes my eyes uncomfortable to play especially the campaign, it's just wrong to release the game by using the famous 'Alien franchise'. Even the fundamental gameplay mechanics like aiming look to be so messed up.

Or perhaps the demo wasn't really in-game footage?
The demo wasn't in-game it was fabricated as around the time they released that footage Gearbox had just found out what a poor state the game was in. The game wasn't in any way view-able and if Gearbox had shown footage from the game we have out now no one would have bought it. I've heard a lot about the development of this game some from people claiming to have worked on the game who have broken their NDA's to speak up. One of which created a Reddit post about the subject here. It's becoming very apparent that faced with a poor product Gearbox chose to lie and fabricate footage rather than tell the fans and Sega that they wasted 6 years and got nothing out of it.

I have just started playing this on the pc in the highest settings and in 1920 x 1080 rez and the Graphics look slightly better than halo 1 pc

" bear in mind this is for the PC version"

so yet again pc gamers get screwed by lazy developers and greedy publishers this is just getting sad now

They went in a different direction with it, clearly. A BAD direction.

When BL1 went from a more realistic to a more cell-shaded~ish art style, it raised some eyebrows but it turned out great, but this looks like a game that went from "Great, modern, good usage of new effect technologies" to "Something that looks about a decade old".

Wonder if the big downgrade is so they could get the console versions on the same level without spending extra development time making it look good and perform well? Maybe they could have had the same effects as in the demo, but it would have taken them longer, and they were like "Bugger that!"?

Or perhaps the demo wasn't really in-game footage?

It's one of those times where the developers clean the slate and entirely re-develop the game.
