Gas Powered Games, apparently on the brink of bankruptcy, is closing down its Kickstarter project for the in-concept title Wildman. With only four days remaining and the project only $500,000 into its $1.1 million goal, the situation seems rather bleak. However, CEO Chris Taylor says the company may have another opportunity in the works. In fact, Wildman is being closed not because if it's lack of success, but in order for Gas Powered Games to dedicate their time to this new opportunity.
Unfortunately, due to the tenuous nature of the opportunity, Chris isn't able to discuss the details of it with the public at this time. He does say that if everything goes smoothly, and things do look to be going that way, he'll have news for fans and those who supported Wildman specifically sometime in the next few weeks.
While it's difficult to tell exactly what sort of situation Chris Taylor and Gas Powered Games is going through at this time, closing down the Wildman Kickstarter prior to it failing to meet its goal is likely the smart decision. This allows the company to maintain the idea that it's got another project in the works, or some value left in the brand, while in all honesty they may not. For all we may know Gas Powered Games may file Chapter 11 within the next few weeks. Of course, that's not what anyone wants. Hopefully the studio landed a contract with a big publisher and this has all been a sad dream.
For now, Wildman goes on a shelf. Maybe we'll hear more about it further down the road, after Gas Powered Games is back on its feet. Check out Chris's full message, along with a video containing personal message to Wildman's fans here.
