Remember when, back in January, Activision reported that the Skylanders series' had made over $500 million in the U.S.? Fast forward a few weeks, and the publisher announces their game-toy has made over $1 billion worldwide. If you weren't aware, that's a lot of money.
Sales are counted up between Skylanders Spyro's Adventure and Skylanders Giants over the course of 15 months. Their combined sales out-sold the top action figure lines in both the U.S. and Europe, and as of January, over 100 million Skylanders toys have been sold in retail.
Here's an infograph for your viewing enjoyment. Apparently, 8,828 toys are sold each hour. Yeah, talk about Pokemon effect:
Not that Activision is about to stop there. They had recently announced Skylanders SWAP Force, a whole new game/toy line to the series. The main selling point here is being able to swap the parts on the Skylanders toys to create new figures.
