'War for Nosgoth' domain registered by Square Enix, prompting Legacy of Kain rumors
Will Legacy of Kain return after a 10 year hiatus?
It has been ten years since Legacy of Kain: Defiance was released in 2003, but perhaps Square Enix feels like now is the time for the franchise to return. A recent domain registration for "WarForNosgoth.com" was filed by Square Enix, prompting claims that the publisher wants to return to the setting of the Legacy of Kain franchise. Is it a reasonable claim? Well, maybe, but if there were an appropriate time it'd be right now.
The main reason, okay the only reason really, for the Legacy of Kain franchise to be likely to return soon is because... Crystal Dynamics. Yes, the developer that's made every Tomb Raider game since 2006, including the upcoming prequel that launches on March 5. Aha, see where I'm going now? With Tomb Raider development wrapping up, Crystal Dynamics is likely moving on to another project. Considering they made the majority of the Legacy of Kain/Blood Omen/Soul Reaver titles, they would be the perfect candidate to reboot the franchise.
Unfortunately, even if Crystal Dynamics or some other studio really is starting development of a Legacy of Kain: War for Nosgoth title, we likely won't hear about it for a while. Square Enix is probably just going to squat on this domain until the time is right, whether that be a month or three years from now. At least it's a sign of hope for Legacy of Kain fans who have dreamed of a return to Nosgoth.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like another Kain spinoff as much as the next guy, but not getting my hopes up here. I'll eat my socks if this ends up being even remotely related to the Legacy of Kain series.
Shut up and take my money:D
