2.5D is just a dumb term for a 2D game rendered with 3D graphics. So while the models all look 3D, the game will be played like a typical 2D side-scroller.

What's 2.5D? Is it is between 2D and 3D, never knew there was a "half" dimension.

There goes my hopes for another Obscure horror game....
Really? All your confidence in Obscure has left you already? There are heaps of Zombie games out at the moment, it's pretty crazy, but I'll keep my eye out for this game.

I've never played the original Obscure game(s?). Looked really underwhelming and boring, but this piques my interest.

Basically just 2D gameplay with "3D" graphics. Not exactly a scientific term, since having 2.5 dimensions wouldn't make sense, but it works as a descriptive filler for these kind of games.
