Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity has local multiplayer only, will launch with free DLC
The Internet is still a scary place
Nintendo still has its waders on when it comes to swimming in the deep sea that is the Internet, but baby steps are important. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity will have a variety of online functionality, but that doesn't mean it will have a full online multiplayer mode. Instead it will feature a local four player Companion Mode, which seems to be the norm for the 3DS.
How about some free DLC in recompense? Gates to Infinity will launch with four DLC packs, three of which will be purchasable, but the fourth will remain free for over a month (March 24 - April 30). The "Poke Forest Mystery Dungeon", like the other DLC packs, will feature new items, dungeons and Pokemon for players to discover. More DLC is planned for release over the month of April.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity will launch on March 24 exclusively for the 3DS. While its disappointing their won't be a more traditional multiplayer mode, local multiplayer is still fun in its own right. Also, you'll be able to use StreetPass to revive other players' fallen Pokemon. Err, yeah, still not as cool as full on multiplayer. Oh well.

Might get my hands on the free DLC as well. Shame there isn't any online multiplayer, that'll be the game's downfall for sure. I read about what you can do in local multiplayer mode and it looks and sounds great, sad to see they can't bring that online.
The lack of online kills the multiplayer aspect for me. Dang it, Japan.
It's sad to see that the game lacks in online multiplayer mode, but I'm sure local multiplayer will just be as great. As long as I convince alahhna777 to get it... Actually I think she'd get it before me anyways. XD
If you do, then I don't see the problem with it.
If you have to buy it... then that's another story.
