I missed the opportunity to post the latest Tearaway trailer last week when it was initially released, but luckily some new information has been posted today on the game. Hooray! In case you weren't familiar, Tearaway is one of the next titles from LittleBigPlanet developer Media Molecule being made for the PlayStation Vita. Much like Kirby's Epic Yarn is well, made of yarn, Tearaway is made entirely of paper... and it looks amazing.
The latest trailer is taken from the Sogport section of Tearaway, a terrifying notion considering soggy paper isn't pleasant under any circumstances. Who would have thought though that a short trailer of a single level in the game would so wonderfully capture the heart of the game. In the trailer you can see wendigos taken from folklore, listen to a folk song that really fits the port town of Sogport, and the unique gameplay the comes from a world made entirely of paper.
Tearaway director Rex Crowle perhaps sums it up best:
"We’re a small team and we all put a lot of our own personality into our games. The biggest link is that a large amount of the LBP team are working on Tearaway, so you will see inevitable stylistic similarities. But I think the main similarity is a general playfulness in the world, and wanting to play with conventions by breaking the fourth wall all the time and actually referring to you, the player, as a character outside the game."
Tearaway is planned for release in 2013 exclusively for the PlayStation Vita. Hopefully we'll hear more about the title in coming months, on top of the release date I'm everyone would love to hear ASAP.
