Much like Dead Space 2: Severed was announced the day of Dead Space 2's release, EA and Visceral Games are celebrating Dead Space 3's launch by announcing its first DLC expansion: Dead Space 3: Awakened. To be released in March for $10 or 800MSP, Awakened will... well, it will probably be scary? There's really no other details beyond the name and price point for the game. It's just an announcement to remind fans how good of an investment Dead Space 3 is.
Perhaps we can clean some perspective into what sort of content Awakened will offer by looking at Severed. Severed offerred two playable chapters, featuring a different protagonist than Isaac Clarke, but in the same setting running parallel to the main events of Dead Space 2. The final events of the DLC may likely come to their true conclusion in Dead Space 3, as the content ends as an awkward cliffhanger.
All in all, it's likely you can expect about two chapters worth of content from Dead Space 3: Awakened, so if a handful of good scares and a few dramatic scenes is worth $9.99/800MSP to you, then put a not on your schedule for March. And hey, doesn't this make you want to buy Dead Space 3 if you haven't already? Or something like that?
