You may not be wrong with Uncharted 4, Graham McTavish who voiced Lazarevic and Charlie Cutter tweeted a few days ago "For Gamers...Just back from 1st day on a new project. Very hush-hush, but I think it's going to be rather good....." So you never know, not gonna lie I'd be more excited for that than a PS4, personally I don't think we need a new gen of consoles yet.

PLEASE BE THE PS4

That video would make a great startup for the console and the noise at the end fits in perfectly

RabidChinaGirl and I have gone over the footage frame by frame and here's our results. The PlayStation 4 will come in four different SKUs, each one shaped like a different button on their controller. The objects floating around in the video are in fact concepts of the final hardware.

Triangle: For casuals, $150, runs Netflix and PSN games
Circle: Just a triangle with a PlayStation Eye, move controller
Square: Standard edition, 256GB hard drive
X: Hardcore, 2TB hard-drive, comes packaged with Killzone vs. Resistance

Let down, definitely let down.

"Welcome ladies and gentlemen, thank you for tuning in for this announcement. We at Sony believe every single aspect of our products can, and always will, be able to be improved. Tonight, and this particular feature is no exception. For the past 3 years, our R&D team have been working on this project, slowly but surely, and I'm happy to announce that we can reveal this right here, right now.

So, ladies and gentleman, here it is. Announcing, officially, the new Sony Playstation 3 start up video!"

Yeah, for starters this is an announcement, not a release. Second, we don't even know what it's announcing. Third, Even if it is the PS3, it likely won't be out for months yet, if even this year at all.

Got to be PlayStation 4 surely?

I personally think that Kaz Hirai's statements about waiting were to throw Microsoft off as Microsoft have plans to unveil Xbox Next at E3 and Major Nelson even has a countdown for an announcement at E3. If Sony were to say "we're announcing in February" Microsoft would have changed their plans, but now Microsoft will be unsure if this is legit or just an event to show off some games and nothing more..

Sony know that getting the upper hand even in the unveiling side of the console war gives them more freedom at E3. When an E3 is used to unveil a new console you typically see 2-3 games for it and a sizzle reel of other footage and that's it. If you unveil 4 months before E3 then you can dedicate all of E3 to showing off every game you have planned for launch it's a huge advantage.

So I think Kaz may have been bluffing a bit with his statements and maybe it didn't fool Microsoft, but I think it was an attempt to at least make them question this event.

We would have to wait till E3 2013 If Sony announces the release date for Playstation 4.
