There's no way that the new Playstation gets released before 2013 is over, so just stop all this next-gen talk.

I'd love to be proven wrong, but it's extremely unlikely that Rockstar would consider turning GTA5 cross-platform with next-gen systems or pushing the game back to next-gen. That's just not their style, not to mention the extra development time it would take.

They decided on 360, PS3 and they'll stick to it, for better or worse. That's just they way they develop things. If anything, the PC release may be even further delayed, because Rockstar will want to make the game they want and they'll want to get it out before the next-gen hits (November at the earliest, I believe).
No, I agree. I honestly don't, for one second, believe this is going to be a "true next gen" title even if it is cross platform, UNLESS Rockstar has had the developer kits in their hands for the new consoles for some time now. I think that the most likely scenario is that if the consoles are indeed launching before GTA V, that it will be cross platform only to the extent that the next gen console ports will get nice bumps in graphics and detail, not gameplay.

Again, the only thing that may make GTA V a true next gen game that is ported to the present consoles, would be if Rockstar actually has been working on the game the last year or more on the new platform's dev kits, which I am guessing is unlikely.

That's honestly another point.

From what I read, and I may be way off base here, the next gen consoles are set to launch for the holiday season in this year, which would miss GTA V's launch by a good THREE months. So I think you are right.

First, I'm kind of disappointed that the release date has been pushed back to September. I really wanted to play it ASAP. With the whole THQ debacle with the South Park game, looks like my top two games for this year will both be delayed.

Also, I don't see any game that has been in development before the next gen-consoles are officially announced to be released for them anytime soon, port or no port.

Expected, really. This is typical Rockstar. I'm not even worried about it, they know what they're doing and they'll put out a quality product just as they always do. Delays are better than shit games. Maybe they'll make the Coquette look like the new Corvette. That'd be sweet.

Sad to see if being pushed back but at least it gives them time to polish instead of releasing a buggy game.

What, it's true.
Happened with GTA IV, prosponed from I think late 2007, to Spring of 2008.

Turns out it'll be The Last Of Us I'll be playing first, then.

"GUYS, THE BOX ART ISN'T READY!"

"It isn't ready!? But we said it'd be ready by the end of the month!"

"Quick, delay the game four months!"

I'd rather have the game in a couple months than have one car look slightly more modern. Maybe it would be a DLC option instead of a long delay?

I disagree with the premise of the news post. I would have preferred box art. You know, what they promised us a few weeks ago.

The advertising campaign for this game has been anything but organized. It's all a bit slapdash. Hey, let's release a cinematic trailer 2 years before the game will hit shelves. Let's release some key chain things to Gamestops and some posters to keep the customers happy. Let's filter out a screenshot or two while saying "we're taking our time, be patient."

I, for one, would rather have no information than this spastic stream of underwhelming announcements. The only thing that got me excited was the three-protagonist reveal in November. How about just saying then the game will be ready when it's ready, rather than promising one thing and not delivering?

If it had been anybody but Rockstar, this forum would be full of folks saying the delay is a sign of trouble. I have problems with Irrational doing the same thing with Bioshock Infinite. Tell us one thing, or don't tell us anything at all. As much as I bitch and moan about Valve saying nothing about Half-Life 3, at least I respect the fact that they don't promise us content and then decide at the 11th hour to kick it down the road.

Oh, and I'm still buying this game day one. I don't care if it's Sept. 17, 3013. I'll invent a damn time machine.

I think that the delay on the realease date might be to get the game further away as possible from all this gun controversy talk, hopefully by sept all this talk will die down barring another sicko going on a shotting spree

or the PS3 fanboy in me is telling me that they delay it so that the game can be play on the xbox 720 and the game will only need one disc instead of the 3 or 4 on the 360

who knows, but I kind of like that the release is on the fall, so I can be playing inside when outside is freezing cold, and not waste the summer inside when we only get a few precious summer months on my neck of the woods, but I bet it makes no difference for the west coasters

I was under the impression that only the new XBOX would be released for the 2013 holiday season and the new Playstation would be out a year later, in 2014.

ReanimationTheory92 That is not the case. Both consoles are likely to be announced soon and released later this year (probably November).

ReanimationTheory92, even so, the salient point is that even if both of the consoles (PS Next and XBox Next) launch for the holidays this year without a single hitch or delay, GTA V would still precede it by three months.

In other words, I was agreeing with you.
