Eh, ever since I've gotten involved with Steam I've never bought retail again. I'm very much a child of the digital revolution. Paying $40 for a new release game is unheard of here in Australia unless you use Steam.

I <3 Steam.

THM It is unfortunate that you live in Australia where digital prices are inflated, and that is something that will have to change for you guys. The fact that a big title like RE6 is on PSN just shows you they're looking at digital distribution for more console titles in the future.

I just pre-purchased the new Tomb Raider on PC for $35 (/w $10 cash back), to show you how cheap we can buy games digitally. Developers themselves see a bigger profit margin even at these prices.
Yup, we pay ridiculous prices for games and consoles, compared to the US and the UK. That's what has stopped me from buying console games, I've been using PC.
I used to be a PC gamer too until late 90s...but in the heydays of PS2, I completely switched to consoles and never looked back....Yes, consoles games are more expensive than PC games, but I wait the until the (new games) price drops, for instance, sometimes, I can wait for 1.5-3 years for the unusually high Aussie-games price to come down!!

Time is the answer here for all affordability issues

I see some good points you made, Well, at the end of the day, just blame the system of the Australian Government and its higher GST, including Stupid Carbon Tax, all contributing to higher or extremely inflated PSN games price than other countries!!!

Price arbitrage is common in Australia!!!

Not a little, much cheaper? For example, Resident Evil 6 $100 on PSN here, Physical copy is only $47 with extra bag and content in EB...Can you beat that? Plus you need to consider HDD space, downloading allowance from ISP, and time etc...Buy physical copies, if you agreed with me

Yes, I do love the smell of new game case/book or even magazines
i feel guilty to say it but the pal version of RE6 is 40 bucks on PSN here, sorry :B
for 4 bucks extra you get all the map packs for mercenaries. no shiny collectible trinkets like physical, but it'l play just as nice.

i think we can call it a miss communication. it's best to stick with the physical on your end THM. don't rob yourself of your own money just because some seniors in the Australian counsel have to finish their 65+ typing and email lessons before they are ready to learn how to pronounce the word video game so they can actually discuss on how to make games affordable for the youth they are robbing blind of their savings.

P.S. Physical copies are always cheaper for consoles believe it or not!!!!
oh come on THM. we all know you just like the smell of a newly unwrapped game case

sides, retail might be a little cheaper then buying online on average, but online game services like PS+ are way cheaper then retail. combine their advantages and it'l leave some money for household expenses.

in fact it's how i have been saving money for my new set of cups, dinner plates, etc in my kitchen this month. i keep a folder with good PS+ games on my ps3 which i add digital games to every now and then. every time i need to save money on something i play those games to save on video game expenses.

Digital Revolution = Not unitl 2030!!!!
What makes you say that? Digital sales for everything are on the rise, and have been for years, while retailers like Gamestop keep closing all over the place.
To some extent, it may be true for some in the U.S. and Europe, while in Australia, the slower internet connection speed and diminutive download data allowance deter the true digital revolution for most of the gamers until now;...Plus, I always buy physical copies!!!!
