Wow. I had no idea that China had a standing ban on video game consoles.

Really though, this doesn't really have much of an effect on gaming. You can still play most games on PC, which has online multiplayer available. I don't really play on PC though, so I don't know the little differences that well.

What's the difference?

Ironically, China is currently the largest manufacturer of Xbox consoles
I found this hillarious. Especially since their initial ban was based on moral/educational grounds.
Seems pretty backwards, I suppose no one can complain when they have such impressive games, but it's almost like being sent to a boot camp, follow orders and strict discipline.

Games could be an incentive, doesn't have to be every day.

I always found it funny how video games are banned but then we have knock-offs like Hunter's Blade being made. Removing a thirteen year ban won't be easy but it will be interesting to see how this turns out.

Really now, you don't say?

so THAT explains why their grades were so high! yes, yes...this should level the playing field for the westerners!
. That and the fact parents over there are somewhat ridiculous. You get nagged to study every other hour according to one of my friends who is half chinese. Tbh, we westerners have it wayyyyy too easy. Which suits me perfectly .
The Western world is light years behind children in China, they have such a strict regime when it comes to school work.

It's rather unlikely that this ban will be overturned within the next 3 years at least. It'll be interesting to see this develop though.

I hope China will embrace Socialist principles rather than following Communist principles...

This is China, they're not stupid.

I wasn't even aware they had a ban on consoles. Sounds like the only difference this'd make would be to (technically) reduce crime rates and increase state revenue. What's the argument against, exactly?

Ah shit. I've just argued in favour of legalising marijuana, narcotics and virtually every black market activity/substance, haven't I?

Wonder if they're allowed to play the knockoffs of the popular consoles that they manufacture
that cheap pixelated junk? the Chinese ship it out for a reason you know

if this rule would be changed this could make a nice opportunity for Microsoft's Xbox. all they have to do it is slide the boxes out of the factory doors and presto, another gold mine.
