This rype of thing really gets at me. My dad's boss had a sort of similar dilemma a few months back. He was gonna be forced to lay off a few people but instead he reduced everyone's wage, and I mean everyone so that nobody lost their jobs. Why can't these companies do the same.
Depends how much they are being paid in the first place. A lot of these people could already be getting their countries equivalent minimum wage. If you own a business that is in the luxurious position of being able to pay above and beyond the minumum wage then sure lower wages, but if Funcom were operating at minimum wage it's illegal for them to drop it any lower. Until we know the facts of their salaries then it's hard to truly suggest a fix as not every company operates the same.

I somehow always forget Funcom exists, as well as their games.

They must be pretty deep in the hole after Secret World to see a 30% increase in profits, but still need to downsize so much.
