Here's some news for a really big game that not many folk have heard about. MMO ArcheAge, from South Korean developer XLGAMES, is being brought to western markets by Trion Worlds. Having only launch in Korea on January 16, the turnaround for an English version of the game could come surprisingly quick. Sadly, the news was entirely focused on the partnership between XLGAMES and Trion, with little to no details on the actual game.
A bit of research shows this could be a significant release. ArcheAge was created by prominant Koreans personality Jake Song, also known as the original designer of the hit title Lineage. In 2003 he left NCSoft, founded XLGames and has since been walking on ArcheAge. In other words, there's a lot of money and time gone into this game's development.
In terms of gameplay, ArcheAge seems to be promising a dynamic experience that promises a lot of freedom from the typical progression systems MMOs usually are based on. I'm not familiar enough with the title to confirm or deny that, but I'm sure we'll find out more information soon. Check out this trailer from the Korean version of the game that I found in the mean time.
Much respect to Rift developer Trion Worlds for bringing ArcheAge stateside via their Red Door service.
