Rumored Yoshi title confirmed during Nintendo Direct, made in Kirby's Epic Yarn fashion
Yoshi's Epic Yarn?
Nintendo loved the stringy style of Kirby's Epic Yarn so much they decided to make another, but this time with a new protagonist. During today's Nintendo Direct event, Nintendo president Iwata announced the long rumored Yoshi Wii U title we've all been waiting for and yes, it will be made entirely out of yarn. It has been referenced as Yoshi's Land in retail listings, but I like "Yoshi's Epic Yarn" better, I think.
In a brief video introduction, Yoshi runs out in the classic Kirby's Epic Yarn style. He's made out of a few simple pieces of yarn, running through a 2D world that could be a quilt. Then, because simply recreating that classic style on a more powerful system wouldn't cut it, string Yoshi turns into a fully knit Yoshi toy. A door opens and the new 3D character steps into a fully 3D world that while retaining the very stylized look of Kirby's Epic Yarn, is something else entirely.
Expect more news on "Yoshi's Epic Yarn" to break during E3 this year, or hopefully sooner. Personally, I think the Yarn series is the perfect way for Nintendo to give some love to secondary characters or franchises that may not get as much attention as they deserve. Also, I just want to see every Nintendo character turned into yarn, because... SO CUTE.
