Dead Space 3 will include microtransactions, lets players save some time and buy weapon upgrades
Unexpected, yet not all that surprising
Dead Space 3 players who would rather spend real money in the interest of saving time can certainly do so, as the game's weapon crafting system will support microtransactions.
Normally, you'll be able to find crafting components while out and about, or by sending out scavenger bots to do the picking for you. If either option sounds like too much work, the in-game store offers a third and quicker avenue.
Speaking to Eurogamer, Dead Space 3 associate producer Yara Khoury explained:
"You can buy resources with real money, but scavenger bots can also give you the currency that you can use on the marketplace, so you don't have to spend [real world] dollars."
Glad it's at least optional, though BioWare did say the same thing about online multiplayer and game completion in Mass Effect 3. But hey, maybe Visceral Games is a bit more lenient in that regard.
That's not to say you can buy your way through the game. Even if you packed your online wallet with funds, weapon parts will only be unlocked as you progress, unless you're playing on a New Game+ save.

The dlc's also seem to be fully usable from first bench in "classic" mode which kind of totally breaks that mode
Basically it's all just severely overpriced stuff to make the game easier and nothing of it is really needed for anything.
Note. I haven't really bought anything extra myself but I got 2 weapons and some suits with the Limited Ed and having saves from ME3/ DS2 so my observations are solely based on those.
However these microstransactions are all vastly overpriced and i feel like i have been ripped off. The shere number and price of them is a joke. 500MS points on ONE weapon set?
The sad thing is if EA had offered a pack giving a player every weapon for a reasonable price i may have considered it, but splitting them up among multiple DLC's and charging that much is shocking.
I wont be buying any of them. Im not even sure what you get. Can i unlock all of those weapons anyway? Or are they specialist parts or what?
