Is it like 1hr and then the game "resets", and you have to start all over again, or is it 1hr and then you get locked out? I'm guessing you have to download at least 10GB, and if it's the latter where you only get to play for 1hr out of 48hrs? Doesn't sound worth the trouble and would be kind of a lame "beta weekend".

EA obviously doesn't understand how exactly a beta works. What they've described sounds like more of a demo. No wonder why people keep hating on EA. They can't even get their website to work properly.

The majority of the 1hr is going to be people getting familiar with everything before they really enjoy themselves.

It takes me a few hours to get used to just the terminology for these types of games.. .

This in a game like SimCity, unless your a longtime fan (and face it, longtime fans are NOT the target demographic...in any game really) your going to spend a LONG time just soaking in everything, before you even finish the tutorial your done, and this is supposed to be a beta? When exactly are we supposed to do the bugtesting?

It's like EA purposely spend millions of dollars studying the market just so they can do the exact opposite and piss people off some more.

I'm guessing that with 1hr, some people are just going to skip the tutorial and get right into playing around. I originally did that with SC4, got bored because I didn't know what I was doing and quit after 30min; I can see the same thing happening here, people will get jaded and just come off with a bad impression of the game. This just seems like a bad move on EA's part, it makes no sense to limit it to an hour.

I'm not going to bother with the beta. I generally do not get on with betas anyway, besides, the time limit is just pointless and makes no sense whatsoever.

But this is just the beta, isn't going to stop me getting the game altogether, mostly for my curiosity more than anything else.

Just give me a Sim City 2000 on PSVita in HD form, I'll buy it.

Why not allow people to just have a free weekend playing it

Would allow people to have to do the tutorial and have a good amount of time to have a go on their own.

Im not gonna bother going through the trouble just for a hour

Double post

But just looking at some news about it and apparently the one hour is repeatable so you can play it as many times as you like but you can only repeat the same one slice what ever that means.

A link to where i found it

quote From Link
The good news is that you can play multiple times over the weekend. the bad news is you get to repeat the same hour's slice the whole time

Piracy reasons.. If they give you a 1 hour slice they can gauge how far you'll get by knowing the behind the scenes data. This allows them to manufacture a beta that has enough content to last about 90 minutes even though you'll be playing 60, just in case you're a SimCity god and work faster than most.

If they put up the full game for a weekend it would be on torrent sites within 30 minutes of going live. There has to be a limitation or no one will buy this game as everyone will have pirated it 2 months ahead of release. This beta is more than likely to test the always online servers while giving players a little taste of the SimCity reboot.

One hour is enough to put my city in debt and destroy it with multiple earthquakes.
