In all fairness, this sort of statue is right in line with British humor and likely intended to be a very pointed joke, but this just isn't the place for that.
If it were in line with British humour, it'd be a male torso wearing a bikini.

quote kuje
It feels like every time the problems of society are introduced to games people flip out.
Yeah, those zombie girl plagues are becoming a real menace.

I'm not bothered by this really. I'd probably get it for the sake of getting it, even if I don't much fancy how so much would be going towards the statue rather than other extras (like a physical soundtrack CD, hardcover artbook, etc). I like me my steelbooks, I have to say.

Though admittedly, the fact that the woman almost certainly had a boob job before getting ripped to pieces doesn't help the whole issue.

A man+woman zombie statue set would probably have done much to avoid the issue being raised though.

Seems so pointless to me.

At no point should a thing like this ever exist. A headless torso statue? That is foul, beyond foul. The fact that anyone would find nothing wrong with this, even want it horrifes me and leaves me wondering what the mental state of people is.

This is literally one of the most disgusting and foul things I've had the misfortune to see. Why would anyone do this? Why?

Well really, there aren't any definitive sexual features on a man's chest. This statue focuses heavy on breasts, it's the center-point, and the only feature on the model that isn't severed off. If you were to compare that to a male statue, would need to consider what kind of statue would actually be similar. Because male chest != female chest.

If the model was male noone would care.
People would probably still think it's stupid/weird.
A full bodied zombie statue sitting on your desk, that's fine.
And given part of a zombie, other than the hand, turned into a statue sitting on your desk, okay now things are getting kind of weird. And the chest is just an odd choice.

Knowing gamers? They'll likely be coming up with gay jokes about it..

Just the whole dead chest thing is stupid on it's own. The fact it's female is like trying to clean a pile of shit with piss.

100% true, but they didn't and they never will.

I personally see nothing wrong with it but it's also not something that would make me go slap down $150 on it. Didn't like the American Collectors edition that much either, not gonna really do much with the zombie hula girl or wooden key.

Now the European Metal Gear Rising Collectors Edition, THAT is what a collectors edition should have. Too bad the thing is European/Japan only and here in the US all we get is a stupid lava lamp

quote bluexy
Wakaman It doesn't inherently encourage those sorts of things. BUT, the continued portrayal of women in sexually objectifying or derogatory manners creates a broader perspective and perception, perpetuating an attitude where women continue to be sexually objectified or treated in derogatory ways.
Well we aren't helping much with that either. They keep doing things like exaggerated breast movements and such in DOA/Soul Calibur etc. because we keep buying the damn things and not speaking up.

quote bluexy
So while it's difficult or nigh impossible to claim any specific instance is directly contributory to this perpetuation, once you're aware of it it's difficult not to be continually disgusted.

In all fairness, this sort of statue is right in line with British humor and likely intended to be a very pointed joke, but this just isn't the place for that. They should be more responsible. Maybe the goal was controversy, though, in which case, bravo.

Tbh it wouldn't surprise me if it was.

If "taking it at face value" is reading too much into it, I'm concerned what actually looking into something would be classified as kuje.

Or, alternative answer: We should always be looking "too much into" this kind of thing. There's no reason not to, the end result is a better understanding of not only our medium of entertainment but also a deeper understanding of how better to portray it to the world at large. That's a good thing, understanding and learning, good things. Taking steps to make sure video games aren't so easily picked out by news corporations as "violence breeders", even better thing. Appearances matter, they matter quite a lot.
