Dunno how true this is, but I found an image (it's really big) that explains the inspirations for the different starting pokemon. Lists Chespin as based off a "Megazostrodon, the first mammal".

Beating Brock with a Charmander is not that hard, but Misty with just a Charmeleon is impossible. Unless of course you train it to level 35 or something.

Ha! Not true in the slightest, I expect. They seem to be really grasping at straws, desperate to find connections that just aren't there. Chespin is a hedgehog. And Grotle and Torterra are tortoises, and Snivy's line are snakes.

Just fan speculation that isn't worth anything. Torterra should be pretty obvious, TORtoise, for example. The zodiac deal takes a lot of streching to work.

Jace2012 Theres a little patch of grass you can find by going through Castelia sewers, missed it myself the first time I went there cause I forgot it how to find it.

Most of those "explanations" are either completely obvious or pointless. Whoever made that wasn't even consistent, for some he went off looks then for others he goes by what the games say.

doubt that is true, snivys line seems to be more based on the snake from the bible, starting with limbs and losing them later.

their dream world ability also supports this to some extend

This thread is rather hysterical... or rather the first page, which is all I read.

Back to my thoughts-- nineteen feet tall, Yveltal!?!? Is that a bit excessive? This is the first time the complimentary legendaries will have such huge discrepencies between them- to the point that they dont really seem to compliment each other at all in any way.

You can find Vaporeon (or Eevee) in the wild?

In B2/W2? Yea in Castelia city, not sure I got the name right it's the city with the bug gym.
That's sooooo nice Thanks!

This was mentioned a few pages ago. Yveltal is serpentine in shape, it would look quite tiny in comparison if it wasn't the size it is. Don't think of it as being 19 feet tall, think of it as being 19 feet long.

It also depends on how they're measured, Xerneas's antlers could probably add about a foot to its size. Yveltal's size makes think of thunder birds or large extinct predatory birds such as the haast's eagle (I'm aware of the lore behind the yggdrasill tree btw).

That's only what some people think-- not confirmed in any way. Considering how many other Pokemon could be measured in height by tail (but arent), Id say this would be strange. Height has always been actual height- compared even to the trainer from a standing position.
Not to mention if the Nordic notion of Stag, Giant Eagle is true- there could be that big of a differential.

Seriously wtf??? How on earth does chespin look ANYTHING LIKE OSHAWOTT!!!
when i first saw oshawott he looked to me EXACTLY LIKE PIPLUP JUST WITH A FEW CHANGED THINGS!
chespin! looks nothing! I repeat, NOTHING! like oshawott.

Thank You! Piplup and Oshawott are my FAVORITE starters and I knew that Chespin and Oshawott may have the same body design but look nothing alike!

Axe Yeah!? Well.... you're an axe!
You gotta admit Chespin does look kinda strange. Well they all look strange.

I really never thought Id see the day that one of the starters would be a frog. I knew it would happen one day but not until like Gen XX.
what about Mudkip in Hoenn? Isn't he a swamp frog?

Ps:ZOROARK AND ZORUA RULE!!!!!!!

I am mistaken. Mudkip is an axolotol(and a cute one!). But would a frog starter learn Bounce(frogs hop after all)?

Hi Kakelio, that drawing would be much better off here, as it's more about fanart than this thread is.

Also, if you want to post larger images like that, please use spoilers so that the page is easier to load.If you don't know how, just use this as an example.
and this is where you enter the information for the spoiler
