Latest Pokemon X and Y screens give closer look at Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie
Lookin' good in 3D there Froakie
Hey, did you all know that Fennekin is a Fire-type Pokemon? Fire-type Pokemon are especially strong against Grass-type Pokemon like Chespin; watch out for Fennekin, Chespin! At this point in the article I'd like to clarify I'm only joking and you don't have to burn me at the stake for insulting your Pokemon knowledge. Nevertheless, I wanted to pass on Nintendo's latest Pokemon X and Pokemon Y media to the community.
Beyond the rather insulting graph above (we're six generations in, Nintendo, we know the starter types by now), we've also got a couple of in-game screenshots of each of the starters. Sadly, I think they might be taken directly from the trailer that was previously released, but perhaps they'll be new to some Pokemon fans. There's also some official art of the starters, as well as legendaries Xerneas and Yveltal (everyone remember their pronunciations?).
Oh! Here's some information everyone might not have known about before, Xerneas and Yveltal's height and weight. This should give everyone some perspective on just how large the new Pokemon are:
- Xerneas: Height: 9’10” Weight: 474.0 lbs.
- Yveltal: Height: 19’00” Weight: 447.5 lbs.
Hopefully this is enough to sate everyone's excitement until we can get some more meatier details on Pokemon X and Y. Until then, the two 3DS-exclusive games are still scheduled for October 2013. If you're looking to buy your own 3DS, this Fire Emblem: Awakening bundle is pretty sexy looking.

I think the majority of Pokémon fans like Fennekin more tbh. xD
But I think each starter has a really good fanbase. I'm sorta in all of them, but I think Froakie is still the best. :3
particularly by the males, despite all the Chespin avvys everywhere. xD I like Fennekin myself but Chespin is growing more on me.Also, it looks like Fenniken is firing a Flamethrower from an invisible force field rather than its mouth. confirmed for Psychic type.
Seems to me that everyone will go with Fennekin because it's Fire and Fire starters seem to be popular and then everyone will go with Chespin because it seems to be the underdog. Then only the dedicated Water type starters will go with Froakie and it will be underused. Nevertheless, Fennekin will get a lot of users simply because some of the less mature players seem to thing Fire is the best type ever. x3
Every poll I've seen across several forums ends up with Fenniken getting more than 40% of the vote. Fire starters are always the most popular.
Anyway Im leaning toward Chespin or Froakie. Most likely Froakie because it looks the best of them all.
Also your comment that infernape is rather confusing. If you don't choose infernape but want a fire type on your team your only choice is to catch ponyta, which is terrible. Infernape is quite good, pretty common in OU, calling it useless really leaves me totally baffled.
I really never thought Id see the day that one of the starters would be a frog. I knew it would happen one day but not until like Gen XX.
I'm not talking about fennekin. I'm talking about the lack of typing for the oh so obvious Ninetales. The pokedex constantly references her as to having mystical powers, in japanese folklore foxes (such as what Fennekin is) are sinister pranksters with mystical properties. Ninetales learns a buttload of psychic and dark moves and even a ghost move here and there. Magnemite and Magneton got an additional typing in Gen 2 but Ninetales stayed fire and fire she remains which doesn't make a lot of sense.
Which is why I hope for an evolution, she really could use a buff in the special attack department.
