The 3DS is really starting to hit its stride, I believe. This latest trailer from Capcom for Monster Hunter 4 just looks beautiful. In the last trailer, we saw a monkey and a dragon, some environments and it was all very... pale. It felt bleak and desolate, among other things. Now, however, Capcom seems to have added a level of polish that brings Monster Hunter 4 to life. Everything feels colorful, with leaves blowing in the wind and birds flying overhead. What a great looking game.
Of course, Monster Hunter 4 has yet to be announced for any territory outside of Japan. The last major Monster Hunter release took more than 6 months to localize, so if we put our mathamagician hats on we'd be lucky to see the 3DS game come to North American shores in 2013 (if at all, of course). In the mean time, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will be arriving on 3DS and Wii U in March, but I've got to be honest it's hard to be too excited when you know something better is just out of reach.
Monster Hunter 4 is scheduled for a summer 2013 release in Japan, exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS. Capcom just finished a giant customer-base survey, and I certainly hope "global releases" will be at the top of their priority list going forward.
