Monster Hunter isn't exactly all too popular
Monster Hunter is actually by far Capcoms biggest and best selling franchise and to a lot of people, much more highly regarded than something like resident evil
In Japan maybe but as far as I know its not very popular elsewhere. Maybe things have changed after MH3 but I'm not sure if it should be considered a system seller just yet. MH3 had a large player base but the Wii was hitting its prime and theres no stelling how many people will actually be interested in MH3U without pre-order numbers.
Do you mean in general or are you talking about existing fans? A lot of MH fans will buy a new console just for it (or even import) band I'm sure there are people that were new to MH that liked MH3 enough to get the next game, but that doesn't mean they liked it enough to buy a Wii U just for one game. The 3DS version on the other hand should do well although lack of online play could be a turn off for some.
I mean people that have only played MH3 (like myself).

Because there is already a couple of Nintendo franchised games people who played MH3 and were going to wait to get the Wii U might just have enough incentive now

I know a lot of veteran MH fans will fork out for a Wii U just for mh and nothing else, but they are die hard fans. (but that is not what i was talking about)

i think our opinions just vary on this, but i think it will boost the sales of the Wii U a bit.
No, I think we're pretty much on the same page here. I'm sure a lot of people who started with MH3 will get MH3U because they liked the first one, some of them might change their mind and get a Wii U sooner rather than later but others need more than I game to convince them.

Monster Hunter never really had system selling power like in Japan, not like Mario or Halo except for die hard fans. MH3 might have helped the series's popularity outside of Japan but we won't find out until we see pre-order numbers and player numbers to compare to that of the previous game.

Duncan Idaho The "old" weapons from the previous games return in MH3U. They all have new ones plus any from the new sub-breeds and returning monsters like lagi and plesie (I assume anyway). Some have been tweaked, the SA has two new vials (poison and stamina) for example.

Ha, yea the Sephiroth thing. Never been called that but I've had someone call me Dante after changing my status set to a blood red/crimson sorta color once (bnahabra armor+guild hat w/ shadowbinder P).

I mgith buy a Wii U if it gets a price drop plus a price drop for MH3U, and i liked playing with the LS but people who see you swinging that around more often than not will end up badly due to them for some reason not figuring out that you are about to use the charge attack to quickly wipe out the monster, given you land several strikes within a short time and can wind up para'ing the fella, in the end i switched to GS simply due to people not joining me on quests for having LS.
I'm probably gonna do the same thing, nothing else on the Wii U I want besides Pikmin 3 so its not worthi it imo. Besides, I'm a little skeptical about how well MH3U will do since the Wii U is still new and Monster Hunter isn't exactly all too popular.

Never had problems with people avoiding me even with a LS, although I usually save it for large monsters and go easy on the spirit combo. Got pretty good with most of the weapons so I often switch but as a result of I'm so used to dodging I sorta forgot how to lance.

My biggest complaint is how blurry the ground looks in several of the shots, maybe its just the camera angle but i think the ground needs some work, capcom.Everything else looks good, lets hope for a western release.

Please excuse me for my lack of knowledge, but is monster hunter 3 ultimate being released for 3ds in europa and the US?
Yes, it's coming out in March.

This game continues to look amazing. I know little about the games as I only played a bit of Freedom a few years back. But I'll be getting Ultimate when it's released so I will know some stuff about stuff when we actually get a release date for this one.
Prepare to be kicked, stomped, flattened, roasted and getting killed by roars, that is not counting some of the Elder Dragons like Ceadeus that is water based and is a water based figth, and of course alatreon oh and deviljho who is a new beast that will rot you with it's foul breath or will melt you with acidic saliva or will melt you while it's chewing on you, MH3 despite being fun a lot of enemies are a bunch of A*****, i hope that ultimate 3 will have dual swords, more LS and more SA's because the original tri lacked (and everybody who uses a LS is called a Sephiroth cosplayer, i really swear it would be a good idea to remove the posibility of hitting your alies since it is impossible iirc to use that to get a friend out of a pin attack)

From my understanding Sony really ticked off Capcom over localizing MHP3rd, they wanted to localize the PS3 version but Sony tried to make Capcom pay for the update to ad-hoc that the PSP game HD re-releases need for online multiplayer. Might be more to it too.

On the bright side Nintendo seems more willing to push for localization outside Japan.
