Cool. Then why are you getting so worked up about it? From what I know it's from a TV tropes article. Considering buzzword is thrown around way more often this is ironic.

Define artificial difficulty. Because as far as videogames are concerned everything is artificial.

Well, DotA1 has far more players than League of Legends, so they might carry over to DotA2...

Yeah, okay I can say the same thing. DOTA is like a stick shift, LoL is like an automatic. Play what you want.

Artificial difficulty isn't a word. You must have picked it up off of somebody somewhere but its a buzzword that doesn't mean anything. Its a word that was made to describe games to enrage people.

You just said implied you have to pay(p2p, that is what i *bleep*ing meant) 30$ to play DOTA2, you have to be pretty non internet savvy to do that. I'm pretty sure my grandma has like 15 keys.
That would be nice if you did, because this entire argument is pointless. Would you like it if I sucked Dota2's *bleep* like you? I think it's a good game, but it has imperfections, which still makes it a good game. You can't name a single game out there that doesn't have something bad with it.

Cool. Then why are you getting so worked up about it? From what I know it's from a TV tropes article. Considering buzzword is thrown around way more often this is ironic.

What? I said it costs that much to buy it. I'm not implying anything. Are you a conspiracy theorist, perhaps? Good to hear you admit it's easy as hell to get this games 'beta' invites, though.

I'm going to go ahead and say cosmetic items do not at all make a game p2w. Buying heroes or otherwise limiting access to them makes a game p2w.

Artificial difficulty is a running joke on /v/ so im 90% sure you're spewing shit because your implying dota2 is p2p and are using buzzwords to explain the technicality of a game.

In the case you are actually serious, I've been in way to many arguments on this forum about LoL vs. DOTA2 but all I can say is DOTA/DOTA2 remains king both competitively and gameplay wise. Its like LoL is an automatic transmission and DOTA is a Manuel transmission, its a failproof analogy, drive what you want, play what you want.
I'm not sure how to respond to something that stupid. There is no better term for things like creep stacking, and it's p2w not p2p- I don't even want to know how you could get that out of what I said. You keep putting words in my mouth yet you have the gall to say I'm spewing shit.

You realize you made this into LoL vs Dota2 argument right? I said nothing about LoL in my original post other than queue times as a response to the previous post. Just from how opinionated your post is is why I tend to stay away from such things.

Yes? Do you not know what that means?

And for what it's worth, I play both. Keep implying that I only play LoL and am fanboying only over it, I find your ignorance and inability to read hilarious.

(Also, technically you have to pay for Dota2's heroes currently, unless you can get an easily obtained invite. It's 30$ to buy the 'beta' on Steam.)

Although it's easy to get a Dota 2 invite, people just don't know where to look nor are they interested in paying $30 for it. There are always posts on Reddit where people are being for invites when there is also a full subreddit just for giving them away.

Pretty much anyone can obtain a free invite now, you just need to know the right places to ask.

Good to see Dota 2 nominated, I have enjoyed playing it since I started a few weeks back.

I never said LoL didn't have dated mechanics. Although, why should I even bother, you clearly didn't read what I wrote. It's about mechanics making Dota2 difficult. There's more artificial difficulty in the jungle, creep aggros, heroes having different attack and casting animations and I could go on and on. Also, some of those aren't even mechanics like graphics has nothing to do with this, and if we just listed differences in the games we'd get nowhere- LoL has things dota doesn't and vice versa.

I'm not sure how the hero purchase is 'gimmicky'. You realize Dota2 uses a similar feature for it's cosmetics right? How else do you think these companies will stay in business? It's silly to say that.

Dota2 is extremely popular with the Russian community, if you queue up around their time you'll get a minute queue, I'm sure. It's also extremely easy to get invites for a 'game that's not even out yet' (which is dumb to be saying, because as said in this article, Valve doesn't consider it a beta). I have around 7+. If people want to play it and don't have the game already, they're doing something horribly wrong. You can even buy it now.

I wouldn't trust the numbers of either. But just from my personal experience with their matchmaking, Dota2's queues are so much longer than LoL's it gets to the point I don't want to play simply because of the waiting.

As far as difficulty, the things listed come in just about every team-oriented game. In truth, difficulty in Dota2 is coming to understand it's dated mechanics, a multitude of things you'll never find out just blindly playing the game. It gets to the point where the people I play with don't enjoy the game because of these things, and quite frankly, the community stinks so if you don't have people to play it with you won't enjoy it.

I'm not going to say a game's bad and I was really hyped for it myself, it's just a game that's really hard for me to suggest to anyone.
Dude LoL is the one with dated mechanics.

No creep spawning, no day and night cycles, no elevation, cant support muiltiple pets with skills and their own inventorys, dota has better graphics etc, etc. Hell, the DOTA 1 engine is even more advanced than Riots. If Riot but 1/5th of their effort into the map they put in with the gimmicky hero purchase/ riot point shit you guys would have something closer to DOTA.

My que times are an average of 3 mins and I truely believe there are less young 'uns playing DOTA. Not to mention its not even out yet, the game is going to go supernova I already have all my LoLfriends addicted to it.

It is the most played game on steam 2x more players than TF2 itself. LoL has a huge player base free and easy games tend to own that, but if you're into DOTA likes you shouldn't be playing LoL or Hon because there is significantly less content and you have to grind farm/ be in denial to play all the heroes.

LoL averages 3 million copies current players (July 2012) while Dota is sitting at most at 1/10th of that. It will definitely grow more once KT reaches an official release, but it has a ways to grow to take on LoL properly.
