Pokemon X and Pokemon Y are the next evolution of the Pokemon world, coming to 3DS October 2013
Introducing Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie

Good morning, everyone! I hope the wait wasn't too excruciating. I'm excited to reveal the announcement of Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, two new evolutions in the Pokemon franchise coming to the 3DS worldwide in October 2013. Yes, worldwide! Pokemon's first global release. "Your new 3D Pokemon adventure is about to begin."
After spending a majority of the Pokemon Direct event talking about this history of the Pokemon franchise, from Pokemon Red and Green to Pokemon Black Version 2 and Pokemon White Version 2, Nintendo President Iwata ended with a bang. "Take a look at the next evolution of the Pokemon world in this video." The following trailer showcased the brand new games, replete with upgraded visuals, the new boy main character, three Pokemon starters, and two new legendaries.
While President Iwata was surprisingly vague about latest two Pokemon games, "new Pokemon" and "new features," the starting Pokemon were fully introduced. Say hello Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie. Naturally, they're all adorable and they're all "special" in their own way. Give them a look below.
Look forward to Pokemon X and Pokemon Y when the games are released globally in October 2013. "Your 3D Pokemon adventure is about to begin." If you missed the announcement, catch the full Pokemon Direct broadcast here or watch just the game trailer below.

Hopefully by break into a new dimension they mean a huge re-boot and over haul for the anime. Let Ash go out with a bang and start fresh with a new protagonist, as much as we might miss kinda miss the old cast its getting pretty old, and besides thats what DVDs and youtube are for.
Actually, breaking into a new dimension? Is pokemon anime gonna be 3D CGI from now on? :/
In addition to existing Pokemon, there will be a large number of completely new Pokemon. The additions will bring the total number of Pokemon in the franchise from the current 649 to over 700.
Because of Pokemon X and Y, the Pokemon anime, movies, card game and merchandise will “break into a new dimension.”
People around the world will be able to simultaneously experience “Real Play.”
The game will utilize the Nintendo 3DS to its maximum abilities to leverage its overwhelmingly beautiful presentation.
The game uses an innovative communication system that makes it feel as if you are playing with other players around the world.
The bonds between players and Pokemon will deepen, and Pokemon will become stronger with the new battle structure.
Everyone will enjoy the game’s scenario and music.
