Nah, better to get pissed off and filled with righteous indignation that the game isn't being RUSHED out and then subsequently spend all our time languishing in semi-coherent conspiracy theories and see if we can find links between Rockstar and The Illuminati, the IMF, the New World Order, aliens, and the Knights Templar.

What the hell is wrong with you, trying to inject reason and logic into this discussion?!
That just tops up my paranoia about the release date of the game, and the multiple government and intergalactic agencies plotting against the gamers waiting for GTA.

chelsiman, there is no such thing as a perfect game. However, we do have games that nearly reach perfection. Just wait and see how the game turns out. Plus, I'm certain that Rockstar has been working on it ever since they released GTA IV.

I don't mind when games are pushed back when the reason is that they want the best game possible. Are we in that much of a rush that we must play the game right now? I don't think so. If I have to wait a little longer to get an amazing game then I'm all for it.

The wallpaper looks alright. Nothing spectacular, but I already have it as my Samsung Galaxy Admirer's wallpaper. I just need something to hype up the game. 2013 is going to be a badasss year, and I can't wait to see the cover art.

I actually played a bit of San Andreas on Xbox with my friend the other day, finished all the driving challenges and went searching for big foot. I know you can't find him without cheats, but we did get mowed down by ghost cars.

Cover art where are you?

Haha, Rockstar. I like that they go so far as to call people "nonsense". They're pretty adamant that the game wasn't done and that's it.
Just a point of clarification: They aren't calling the people nonsense, they are saying that the accusation of conspiratorial delays are nonsense.

Big difference.

I think this is worth pointing out, from that piece of news where they said there would be a box art and there wasn't:

quote
Hey all, we understand many of you guys are disappointed with this news – unfortunately sometimes such delays are necessary in all forms of entertainment, and especially in the case of a game experience as massive and complex as GTAV.

To those of you saying or seeing various conspiracy theories about there being some other ulterior motive for this delay, rest assured that they’re all nonsense – literally the only reason we’ve delayed the release is because we want the game to be as good as it needs to be.

For those of you asking about the official box art, that will be coming out a bit later as well.

Thank you all for understanding.

You're right, there's detail and there's detail. The environment in JC2 is very special, but it's not that meaningful. It's a nice backdrop. Even if it were all photo realistic and there were thousands of kilometers of it, it still wouldn't be that exciting if all the towns were built the same or similar.
I disagree. I have seen games where background was just that and nothing more, but in JC2, there are so many awesome places to explore, so many great ways to travel, and so many settlements to conquer that I have no problem giving the game a pass for a certain amount of repetitiveness in some of the village structures. This has far more to do with the consoles resource limitations than it does some developer laziness. If JC2 was an exclusively PC game, I would be more inclined to agree with you, but as a primarily console game, also ported to the PC, the consoles were the limiting factor.

Another thing to consider in games like this as well as GTA IV, is that if you love the game, then the scenery becomes far more significant and game-enhancing rather than just window-dressing, or backdrop, as you put it. I used GTA IV as an example even though graphically it is a good step or two below JC2. But to illustrate my point, I really couldn't stand IV, so even though I am a New Yorker and was initially very excited about having a beautifully rendered New York City as a sandbox, I had no desire to explore or lavish in IV's world. But with JC2, because I love the gameplay so much, the world itself has a great deal more meaning to me, obviously a lot more than it does to you.

The Slingshot alone still gives me hours of meaningless enjoyment, because it is like webslinging in Spidey games and the scenery still blows me away in the game, even almost three years after it released.
