If DmC Devil May Cry has anything, it's style. This latest trailer for the Japanese action game from Capcom and Ninja Theory was originally shown in theaters, but finished its run and has finally been made available online. It's entirely CG, and while it doesn't introduce any new characters or gameplay it does one thing very well: it introduces Dante. Nothing summarizes the trailer better than the words he says at the end, "My name is Dante. Tell them I'm coming."
Dante isn't just some stylish protagonist caught in some world conflict, though. This trailer does a great job of giving Dante some depth on top of being a badass. Simple things with a lot of complexity, really. For example showing Dante slapping a can full of demon goo out of a child's hand says a lot. The child and parent can't see the goo, they just think Dante is some jerk, so we know Dante is both disconnected with humanity but still goes out of his way to help them.
A lot of folk will get caught up in the change of Dante's look, or the rebuilding of the franchise's combo-focused combat, but I think that's unfair. Everything I've seen of DmC Devil May Cry looks very promising. Look out for more media and information on the game as we approach its January 15 release date for PS3 and Xbox 360 (Jan. 25 for PC).
