City Interactive may have dozens of games under their belt, but Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 may be their largest in scope and scale yet. That may explain why the first person shooter has had such beleaguered development, with a number of unfortunate delays. The issues seem to have been resolved, however, as a new and hopefully final release date has been announced. Expect Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 on March 12, 2012.
With over 700,000 copies sold on the Xbox 360 and close to 3 million across all platforms, the original Sniper Ghost Warrior was a surprise hit. Perhaps it's because of the original title's unexpected success that its sequel was pushed from August of 2012 into March this year. Perhaps the scale of the game was increased, or further time was dedicated to maximizing the game's use of CryEngine 3. Or the team could be having trouble. Lets hope it's the former.
Either way, we fully expect Sniper Ghost Warrior 2, for better or worse, to meet its new March 12 release date. The FPS stealth sniping game is planned for release on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. if you haven't watched any of the brutal gameplay yet, it's worth giving a watch.
Why'd they have to pick the same release date as God of War: Ascension and StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm? Argh.
