Anyone who has tried to switch regions on Xbox LIVE will likely tell you it's not easy. Well, Microsoft knows this, and they're actively working on improving the whole process. Currently in testing, the new service will allow users to switch regions directly from Xbox.com, with the option to transfer once every three months.
When hopping to a new region, you'll get to keep your Gamertag, Achievements, Microsoft Points, and existing Gold subscription. What won't make the move with your LIVE account are region-locked features, such as certain promotional materials, Xbox Music subscriptions, and TV services. No doubt we'll be hearing more specifics on this once Microsoft nears a public launch date.
Apparently, beta testers are liking the new feature. Then again, we're thinking that any update would be an improvement over the current migration process, which could take up to six weeks and countless calls to Microsoft customer support.
