Ya on the topic of the controls it always bothered me that once you input a command your guy commits to doing it before letting you do anything else, allow me to give an example.

Your press to slash an enemy but he hits you before your character actually does anything cancelling your action and staggering you, so now that you are at low health you quickly hit the dodge button but ahhh your character remembers your attack command that was input that he didn't get a chance to do yet so as soon as he is unflinched he stabs/slashes and THEN will dodge, he will do the inputs in order, the lack of ability to change ones mind in combat has always been a little embarassing on the characters part, how can he not change his mind?

on a similar note, always bothered me that there is no way to cancel certain slow actions maybe like a slow casting spell. How many times have you healed or cast in combat when you meant to throw your shield up because you forgot to toggle back from your Talisman/catalyst to your shield? It's happened to me a few times where I'll do a miracle heal and my guy will be pretty much kneeling saying "please lop my head off" and being no way to cancel it and roll away like a logical person would do in combat chances are you could die.

yeah the jumping was really shadey.. Like you'd have to jump, but youd have to use the right analog stop to angle the camera the right way, while making sure you land where u wanna land.. This game has the tendency, however, to delay some of your actions.. Sometimes ill press R1 to attack, then block, but my guy won't attack until I let the block down, even tho I attacked like 15 seconds ago.. no big deal, but I've had it happen during a boss fight a few times and it suckkks... Maybe im just pressin too many buttons

Yeah, jump controls were the worst. It was basically Tomb Raider again, having to compensate for delay timing.Kick controls could use a little tweaking, mainly because that sort of direction feature doesn't work as well or feel as comfortable to do with an analog stick compared to a d-pad. L3 or R3 could worked just fine.

Maybe I just sucked at it then, but the controls felt very floaty to me (I used a controller). There also seemed to be a slight delay when you'd go to dodge, and I never got the hang of the kick. I also found it incredibly easy to get stuck on scenery.

Regarding the save system, yes, the game autosaves compulsively, but (unless you do a workaround) when you die you reload at a campfire that might be 20-30 mooks away from the boss that killed you.

I always found the souls games to have a lot of heaviness to the way things controlled, which I love. The fact that every attack, or even every step had that oomph to it is great. Though I do hear there are delay issues with the pc version.

As for the respawn thing, that's not a problem, that's a feature.

Now, I did like the atmosphere. Loved it actually. And I really liked how deadly combat was. 1-3 hits and you're dead. I liked all that stuff, I just felt that the way I was being asked to interact with it was less than optimal.
Like I said, though, maybe I just sucked at it.

If they can fix the controls I'll be on board for this one.

High Difficulty- Good.
High Difficulty from imprecise controls - Bad
High Difficulty from imprecise controls and extremely punishing save system - No. Just no.
As two people have said before me, I had no problems with the controls. Unless you mean the "both hands on the keyboard" PTDE controls, in which case, yeah, I agree. A controller is the only way to go.

And the "punishing save system" is perfect. Most games that have "punishing" save systems only autosave every 10 hours or some shit like that. Dark Souls saves every 5 seconds.

The controls weren't all that bad for me, after you get used to them, it handles like a dream. Not to mention, the saving system is what makes it oh so satisfying when you finally get to the next bonfire.

Still worried about the difficulty decrease and them pulling a NG3 on us.
