Good news for the technology market. Since we've got a relatively small manufacturing output, it's about time that we started to show our technological muscle. Most technical innovations around computing is seen in the US, from Microsoft and Apple to web companies such as Facebook, Google, etc, despite the UK having a rich heritage in computing with Colossus and the 80s home computing boom with the ZX-Spectrum.

What isn't mentioned is that this tax break was originally planned by Labour before the last election. The Tories said if they got into power they would still apply it, however once they won they immediately cancelled it. It's only since someone has finally managed to persuade them how much it could be worth in the future that they've reinstated it.

I should point out I'm no big Labour supporter either (I think all 3 of the main political parties in the UK are pretty pathetic), but had to say that we shouldn't be giving the Tories too much credit for this.
