And two months on, I would really love it if it was released so I can play import 3DS games on my 3DS. I hate not being able to play an awesome game because it hasn't been published in the EU but has in NA/JPN.
GL, you will need some one to leak the stuff, neimod and Co hate what you just posted

lmao, yeah let's brick those consoles and watch the most massive shitstorm in recorded history. Believe you me that all trust in Nintendo would be lost. Just like when Sony decided they were gonna arrest that dude for hacking his system.

I'm sorry but I don't see why 'extreme' measures have to be taken just cause the system is hacked. I mean unless I was actually pirating games then yeah.

You can quite easily turn off all wifi on the 3DS. One switch slide, done. Easy.

And lets break this down.

quote
This would be pretty cool if it wasn't for pirates ruining platforms. Its a shame a few bad eggs have to ruin it for everyone else, to the point that I find myself hoping Nintendo goes through with their licensing agreement and starts bricking systems.
"this would be pretty cool" Meaning there are interesting things that could come about by this development.

"if it wasn't for" Indicating that there is some negative aspect that negates the previously mentioned interesting things.

"pirates ruining platforms." The negative thing. Whatever piracy's true impact on the market is, developers and publishers don't like it and thus cannot risk investing in platforms where piracy is rampant, see the DS situation for the last few years.

"It is a shame" Indicating disappointment at the situation and alluding once again to the interesting things that could come about by such an announcement being soured by negative side effects.

"A few bad eggs" Indicating that not everyone who homebrews also steals games

"Have to ruin it for everyone else" Legitimate uses of the console and homebrew get lumped in with piracy since so many people pirate software.

"to the point that I find myself hoping Nintendo goes through with their licensing agreement and starts bricking systems." The situations that the DS and Wii ended up in partly due to piracy leads me to wanting extreme measures taken to protect something I enjoy.

Really not that hard to figure out. I'm done with this now, let's move this back to more productive discussions.

If you want to modify your console, you can. Nintendo can't brick it if you don't get online on their servers and don't use their software. However, if you want to use those services, you have to play by there rules.

And I don't even know what you're on about in the last part. I know English isn't your first language, but reading comprehension is still a good thing to have.
a) except they can, the 3DS can pretty much connect to anything that is a hotspot and nintendo can force a Firmware update.

b) You expressed what you tought on piracy, yet you suddendly are saying a completley different thing (hence why i quoted what you said before you gave me a response), i made an off hand reference to Austin Powers, i tought it was better than well saying a few thing that could be considered as flamming.

Yeah, no. Video games are a total luxury item. I'm sorry your country is in a terrible state of affairs, but that doesn't somehow make it okay for people to steal the hard work of others, especially when it is a literal game to amuse yourself with. I watched the DS and Wii markets tank thanks in part to pirates making it much harder for smaller games to break even, I don't want to see that happen again with 3DS.
It is not just my country the issue is on the whole continent, the only official retailer hence official prices is on brazil, sorry i would love very much to buy original nintendo games, but if buying 3 winds up as 2500 bolívares which is the minimal wage then no, i am sorry i cant care because these merchants already paid nintendo and nintendo already made a profit they are selling and gaining the whole profit of the game, when put side to side to pirated game the merchant gets a dramatically lower profit, and nintendo still wont get a profit.

IF there was an official retailer with official prices other stores would wound up getting the short end of the stick.

quote
If you want to turn your 3DS into a toaster, I don't care, and I doubt Nintendo does either. Just don't complain when you can't use their online systems and their games when you don't play by there rules.
Except you just said something completeley different, you said you hope nintendo starts bricking consoles left and right for this, which shows a huge disdain for homebrew and piracy on your end, nintendo *cant* brick consoles, flashcards work on the 3DS but only on DS mode, nintendo would have bricked the console long ago so they just dont give two *bleep*s about piracy.

quote
Finally, you should try reading my posts a bit closer. Pretty sure I said this would be cool thing if not for the harm piracy causes, so rattling off a bunch of homebrew apps is pretty pointless.

As for owning the console vs. licensing, I have no problem with people doing whatever they want with the stuff they buy. If you want to turn your 3DS into a toaster, I don't care, and I doubt Nintendo does either. ... sorry but this hat to be the most stupid comment i have seen you post ever, as i told emily rogers on her tweeter piracy is the alternative when merchants run loose, when nintendo removes from south america all they have but one store (Brazil-Sao Pablo) and just doesnt cares outside licensing for importers the console, there are no official nintendo retailers, there are no official nintendo stores in venezuela, games are *bleep*ing expensive down to 3/4 of the minimal wage, consoles can costs three times the minimal wage, so come and tell to my face that piracy is a bad egg when probably thrid world countries and countries in developing pirate more than first world countries.

their current sales policy is pretty much asking to be sued, at least where i live when you give the merchant you money the laws tell with no place left for interpretation that the product is yours, it's a transference of propiety, nintendo is merly renting their console to you, going what they say on the box, a single brick that can be traced back to them could cause issues, lots of issues for the developers, going by the law of where i live they are technically damaging a protected good, which is bad for business.

if they start bricking consoles it will also scare people out of buying it, oh and homebrew is what gave us the posibility of loading games via USB and even loading via USB gamecube games, it also tweaked the wii in such a way that we could add protection from the faulty updates of nintendo or hey! how about when nintendo made one of the biggest blunders with Skyward sword (well more than the crappy game it was) with a glitch that took about two months to fix yet these "pirates" fixed it within a week, oh wait sorry i forgot homebrew and piracy is always bad and we all show be burned for being herethic, sorcerers, withces and not following the ku kux clan teachings.

for once bbb think about other people economical situation before you come in and say things like this (and yes i am aware i am probably making a mole out of a molehill but w/e, these kind of posts just press a strong berserk button for me)

Good news for brewers, bad news for Nintendo...What does "kernel mode" do or, (can it achieve exactly)? Can I play all of 3DS games on R4??? I dont' think so...
You can also overclock the console if hackers develop a custom kernal. Overclocking basically makes the 3DS more faster and possibly more powerful. Good for homebrew developers since they can gain the full potential on the console.

I hope not. As much as I'd love to have screenshots and cheat engines, I'd rather we not get a PSP 2.0 out of this when it comes to support in the west.

Region lock doesn't bug be because I manned up and imported a JP system.
