Ghost Recon movie could be in the works as Ubisoft Motion Pictures CEO prepares a pitch
Ubisoft adds Ghost Recon to their growing list of blockbuster game to film adaptations.
Ubisoft isn't exactly new to the idea of translating their beloved frachises to the big screen, with an Assassin's Creed movie in the works with Michael Fassbender, and a Splinter Cell flick with award-winner Tom Hardy (best known as "Bane" in The Dark Knight Rises). Now in a report with the LA Times, Ubisoft Motion Pictures CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet has said that he is putting together a pitch for a movie based on the Ghost Recon games.
Ghost Recon isn't a series one would associate with characters bogged down in backstory, and has very few characters that are memorable or well-known to the gaming fanbase. However, the movie will need to show squads of soldiers using "near-future" technology in order to remain somewhat consistant with it's game counterpart.
Alongside Ubisoft's Big Screen aspirations, the company continues work on it's young-adult television series based on the Raving Rabbids franchise, which releases later in 2013.
