So i expect a *bleep*ing price drop to 20$ so i can finally afford this thing.
laugh all you want but when in your country it's a difference of 50 bucks between a PS2 and a PS3 and the merchants are ignoring every possible law related to trade it aint so fun (for the record PS2=3.200 bolívares, PS3= 3.500 bolívares, the PS2 started on 1200 two years ago)

If the production of the PS2 was cut, then the merchants in your country might just increase the price, no?
There would be less PS2s to go around, also why not just order one online then, unless it also costs like $200 for shipping.

No they need to buy illegally dollars or ask the government for them which seems to be 200$ per person, if the price falls, assuming the buy with the legal dollar (4,30 bolívares=1 dollar) it would be some 160 bolívares for every PS2, if we go the illegal dollar route (which got skyrocketed thanks to rich people buying every dollar of the black market making it go from 10 bolívares per dollar to 20 bolívares per dollar in less than six hours) it's some 800 bolívares per PS2 (this whole math is going by the current price 40$ per console) the merchants are brutally toying with the PS2 prices, and even the folk of mercadolibre are toying with the price selling it at a much higher price which will in turn cause the price to rise again and again, all i am left to hope is that telling the anti speculation institution takes sone action given that they have closed stores and whole malls for similar things.

IDk what the shipping price is and i always consider a hassle to order stuff online, delays, posibility of the place where the package will arrive will be stolen, etc. it's in a sense more of a safe way to buy the thing directly of a shop and bringin it to your house, not to mention all consoles here come pre modded.

ISO compatibility sucks for the majority
What do you mean by that?

Are you saying that PS2 games don't perform well on PC's?

Also it's not much of an issue if you can play PS2 games on a PS3. You can call me out if I'm wrong, but I remember playing GTA Vice City on my friend's PS3 before I got it from him.

I had many good memories with this very console!
It's started the very gaming I do at the moment, and I refuse to ever sell both of our PS2's!
They are, perhaps, the best console I have ever had and I will always love them.

This calls for a Snake Eater styled salute.
Right there with you.
Also good to note that the PS3 has FINALLY overtaken the Xbox360 in global sales. The PS2 held it down for 12 years and must have known its job was finally over.

BEST SOLDIER EVER.

I still can't believe how many people game on consoles when a decent computer can run practically every game in existence from every console imaginable at 1080p/1600p resolution with enhanced textures, save current gen games. And even then most companies release a PC version now. The only reason I ever use my current gen consoles are when I feel like playing an exclusive title(which is rare).

Emulators just enhance that fact even more.

If you want the best possible resolution, yes. And higher resolution can benefit older games even more than newer ones. Because older games had lower resolution and insufficient horsepower to do full modeling, they had to focus on making the games look good that way. Art didn't have to give way to "realism", either.

So a 2001 game like ICO can look better at 1080p than a modern game that lazily relies on high-resolution and realistic modeling to get by.

The 3 people who disliked my comment are too poor to buy a decent PC and high res screen. Or too stupid to get an emulator and PC controller working. Odds are both are true.

Ico is a really beautiful game too btw. Perfect example.

There are all different kinds, they have playstation type controllers from logitech for 20 something dollars. Dual action it's called. And yea there's the xbox ones too if you prefer that. And there's all kinds of keyboard emulation software for them. Namely Xpadder.

I have practically every game console ever made on my PC, play them on my 30" 2560x1600 resolution monitor with enhanced shaders/textures. The entire setup cost me around 3,400$.
