Guerrilla Games hoping 2013 is their "biggest" year since the original Killzone's release
Killzone 4 and a new IP in development
Ho ho ho, a blizzard of holiday wishes are falling down upon gamers across the world. Some well-wishers have hit the egg-nog a little too hard and are willing to share a few teasers as they leave the office for the holiday. Guerrilla Games, first-party studio for Sony, gave one such tease by promising that 2013 may very well be their "biggest" year since the original Killzone was released.
Victor Zuylen, Guerrilla Games community editor, dropped this holiday comment on the PlayStation Blog:
"2013 is gearing up to be another big year for Guerrilla – quite possibly the biggest since we released the original Killzone way back in 2004. We’ll have more details for you at a future date, but until then we hope you share a wonderful holiday with your loved ones, and we’ll see you in 2013."
Guerrilla does have one scheduled release for 2013, the PlayStation Vita title Killzone: Mercenary, but if Zuylen is being sincere then it's no stretch to expect they've got something else in the works too. Whether that other title be Killzone 4 or the new IP the studio seems to have been working on and delaying since 2012, who knows.
Why haven't we heard more on this big game from Guerrilla, yet? Well, one would expect that if a PlayStation 4 was to be announced for release in 2013, Guerilla Games would be at the front of the line with a launch title. While I'd like that title to be a new IP, I'd bet it's Killzone 4 due to the fact that they'll have built up an extent of Killzone hype with the Vita title's release.
How nice of Guerrilla to give me one of my favorite holiday gifts: rumors!
